Is CB Passive Income 4.0 a Scam or a Powerful System? Let’s Find Out

CB Passive Income 4.0 Review Photo

Wondering if CB Passive Income 4.0 is a scam? Considering buying this course?

If so, hold off on your decision until you finish reading this review!

Patric Chan’s CB Passive Income has been torn apart and rebuilt multiple times since the original version.

This year’s version, CB Passive Income 4.0 is built for mobile support, and focuses more on social media.

Today we’ll take a look at the product and see if its a powerful system, or another get-rich-quick scam to avoid.

[thrive_text_block color=”light” headline=”CB Passive Income 4.0 Review Summary:”]

Product Name: CB Passive Income 4.0

Product Type: Lead-gen System + Marketing Training

Creator: Patric Chan

Price: $47/month or $97 one-time.

Best For: Nobody. Especially not for those who are trying to start their own online business.

Rating: 30/100

Summary: CB Passive Income 4.0 will train you to send traffic to CB Passive Income’s landing pages that have your unique affiliate link. When someone buys something, you make a commission. The system is supposed to streamline the sales conversion process to make online sales easier to convert. The problem is that you are actually building CB Passive Income’s emailing list, not your own, and you’re using a “cold” approach to convert email leads (in other words, you’re getting cold leads that most likely won’t buy).

Recommended: No

What is CB Passive Income 4.0?

CB Passive Income 4.0 is an email marketing course with a twist.

Normally, an email marketing campaign will start with a lead-capturing system such as an opt-in page with a free a giveaway.

When the lead is added, the email campaign series is triggered, and the lead starts receiving promotional emails.

The problem is most people don’t like being sold to, at least not at first, so Patric Chan’s product attempts to make it easier to sell to people.

Basically, the last part of the email campaign (sending promotional emails) is cut short.

Here’s how CB Passive Income works:

Your job is to send traffic to different squeeze pages with various free giveaways.

These pages are included in the CB Passive Income System, already made for you.

Promotional emails are included too.

When someone you sent to the page buys a product from the promotional emails, you’ll receive a commission.

That is essentially how CB Passive Income 4.0 system works.

In short, Patric Chan cuts out some of the work for you.

But he still leaves you with one of the hardest tasks of all.

We’ll talk about that task in the next section.

Another platform that also promises passive income is Honeygain

Does CB Passive Income Really Make Email Marketing Easier?

There’s a stigma attached to being a salesman, especially an email marketer.

Here’s the thing:

We receive far too many spam emails.

Most people don’t want to add more spam to the pile.

So Patric Chan is for the people who are afraid to attach their own names to email blasts.

A picture from CB Passive Income 4.0 showing Patric Chan featured in a news clip.

Though that does sound like an excellent idea, especially for new marketers, its actually a problem.

Honestly, most people love buying from people they trust.

But if there’s no trust… its much harder to make a sale.

In short, the focus should be on building trust with any online business.

Build the trust first, then make the sale.

CB Passive Income skips over this topic completely.

CB Passive Income focuses on the mass promotion part.

The system takes over one part of the campaign, but the hardest part is still there.

What’s the Hardest Part?

Getting traffic.

Most courses, like CB Passive Income, lightly brush over the subject of traffic, and quickly move on to all the sales you can make.

Sure, if traffic was easy to acquire, anyone could make plenty of cash.

But, unless you have thousands of dollars to spend on ads, it’s not that easy to naturally get traffic.

There is some marketing training included in the course, but it is quite basic and – honestly – most people are doing the same tricks.

I assume if you buy traffic (expensive) then you can make some sales.

But would you be able to make back what you spent on traffic?

Who knows.

Most people don’t have cash to spend on traffic campaigns, so they opt for the free marketing methods; social media, search engine optimization, word of mouth, etc.

The problem is there are already thousands of people promoting the exact same offers on social media.

Guess what?

Nobody clicks on those links.

Getting traffic is the hardest part of an email campaign.

Setting up the campaign with emails is actually quite easy; write up some emails,  it takes a few minutes.

CB Passive Income 4.0 Training Material:

I did like some of the training material, especially this year’s update.

This year’s update added a lot of training material dedicated to Facebook’s new list-building features.

It teaches you how to make ads, and other opt-in forms, that are integrated into Facebook.

Honestly, its a really neat feature, and I like how CB Passive Income 4.0 teaches people how to use it.

The only problem is when you use this method with CB Passive Income, the sign-up leads to someone else’s list, not yours.

Tip: Use Facebook’s list “Sign-up” feature to build your own list. Its much more powerful.

The training material consists of videos and PDF downloads and there are three bonuses included as well.

The marketing material is a bit basic.

For example, he recommends the same old marketing techniques as everyone else:

  • Guest Posts
  • Blog Comments
  • Article Directories
  • Social Media
  • YouTube
  • Etc.

Don’t get me wrong – these techniques (except for article directories) do work, but its not exactly new information.

CB Passive Income’s Idea is to leave one task to you; send traffic to the opt-in pages.

So you’re given a unique link that can lead to one of many different opt-in pages and your job is to promote that link wherever possible.

That does sound interesting but I have one question: why would I want to build someone else’s list when I can build my own?

Truth be told you can make a lot more if you build your own list.

If you’re already a member of CB Passive Income, here’s what I would do in your place:

Use the training and marketing info to build your own list.

Why Build Someone Else’s Business?

[thrive_link color=’red’ link=’’ target=’_self’ size=’medium’ align=’aligncenter’]Here’s the Only Training You’ll Ever Need >>[/thrive_link]

What I Didn’t Like:

Though I do appreciate the product is regularly updated, it does lack quite a lot of material.

It feels like members are paying to promote someone else’s list for the hopes of making some cash.

Know what? Cold emailing converts at incredibly low rates.

Even if you send a bunch of people to the list, the conversion rates will be so low I doubt you’ll make back what you spend.

Instead of sending so many leads to someone else’s list, why not build your own?

It makes more sense, and its cheaper too.

Conclusion with CB Passive Income:

I wouldn’t say CB Passive Income 4.0 is a scam.

But its definitely not one of our recommended products.

Its a bit expensive and doesn’t really deliver that much value.

What Do I Recommend?

I always recommend building a business for yourself, so you can directly benefit from the profits.

It’s also much better to have full control over your business and the direction it takes, instead of leaving it to someone else.

But how can you build an online business? Doesn’t that require years of programming and web design?

Not really.

Actually, most people who get started in my recommended course don’t have any prior experience working online.

It offers the same steps that 1,000’s of online entrepreneurs are using to break free from the 9-5.

  1. That was a great review of the CB passive Income. However, I do want to point out that it is actually a high converting product on ClickBank.
Anyway, I really appreciate your time and sharing with us your thoughts

  2. I think one of your main key points… that you’re promoting someone else’s email list is the biggest deterrent for me … I guess it might be easy to convince a newbie marketer to sign up for this system as it is “done for you” …but any marketer with a bit of experience will see that they’re not really gaining much if they don’t already have an email list — because I think that’s really where the money is at. 🙂

  3. Hi! I appreciate your review of CB Passive Income! Here are some questions I’d really appreciate your answering if you can:

    1. If I pay $97, is there an additional cost for set up or for anything else, and if so, what is the additional cost?

    2. Does CB provide e-mails that are actually tested and proven to work for solo ads?

    3. When people join, do I receive commissions, and if so, how much are the commissions for the $47 a month and for the $97 one time payment?

    Thank you very much!!!

    1. Hey Marty! Last time I checked, CB Passive Income teaches you how to use their own sales page templates, so you don’t need to buy hosting or domain names.

It does give you some already-done templates to use. But you will likely need to spend a small fortune on solo-ads to make any consistent income, and the conversion rate for these type of programs is not the best.

Keep in mind, everyone is using the same email templates so it can easily be flagged as spam. The affiliate program pays 50% on all sales.

This is similar to the Super Affiliate Network. I just recently got some feedback and it that might help you.

Basically the guy invested $2,500 into buying solo ads to promote the system. After 6 months of effort, he got a $200 return on his money.

I’d highly recommend you take our Free Internet Marketing Training Program.

Even if you think you have a decent understanding of internet marketing, take the course, read the messages, I think it will help.

Internet marketing is all about getting the right systems in place to provide: Targeted Traffic, Sales Conversions, and Client Retention.

Our training provides the cheapest and most efficient way to make this happen.

  4. Just wanted to say, solid CB Passive Income 4.0 Review, I really think you did a good job covering the pros and cons.

Thanks, think I’ll check out your IM training program.

  5. Great review, thanks so much, made my decision so much easier. I signed up to your free internet marketing training and I’m loving it.

  6. Thanks for this great post.

I’ve tried our CBPassive Income 3.0 before and for 6 mos I got around 200+ leads I got only one commission.

  7. Hi, Todd. Really based on reading your excellent review of this online opportunity called CB passive income 4.0 I for one would not put any money down with this opportunity.

The entire process behind CB just raised a few red flags for me. I immediately noticed that as far as costs a person could either pay $47/month or a one-time fee of $97 to receive the entire thing. So, the $97 one-time fee sounds reasonable. But, why would anyone opt instead to keep repeatedly forking over $47/month for the same material. Is Patric Chan hiding something? Exactly how long would a person end up paying $47/month when all along he/she could have just paid $97 once and not worry about being bilked for more $$ in the future? Just a little scammy in my opinion.

The fact that what is glossed over through this program’s training is a complete lack of education in being able to gain trust coming from a person to whom you would be promoting products in an online business also causes me to not think so highly about this program. Doesn’t this program teach an affiliate marketer to think about the customers’ needs and not just putting money into his/her bank account in the business? Apparently, not!

The fact, as taught by CB a person attempting to build up an email list would end up doing so for someone else is definitely bogus. You also stated that the training regarding marketing offered by this program is very basic. At a potential cost of $47/month, (and for how long who would know), I’d question if investing a one time price of $4.70 would be worth it, let alone $47/month.

I agree with your final assessment. A person would be better off simply passing on this program.

  8. This course looks ok and great for newbies in the list building field, as the majority of the work is done for you.

That being said, I am horrible at email marketing and prefer to build websites and attract customers that way. I know building your list is essential to long term success and this is one part of my marketing strategy that I must improve on, but just not at these prices.

  9. From the beginning of reading I could tell that it was going to be an honest review. You didn’t seem biased towards either side, and that’s a good thing. A great thing that not everybody can pull off. Even though you could tell toward the end of the article that you didn’t agree 100% with his methods, and the fact he had gaps in lessons, you still were thorough and honest to the reader.

    1. Hi Michael, thanks for your feedback on our CB Passive Income review, much appreciated and that’s great to hear.

  10. Thanks for the interesting and very detailed review of Patrick Chan’s CB Passive Income 4.0 Review.

After reading your review I decided that his course is not for me. I have learned all that he recommends from Wealthy Affiliate, and I agree with you – it is much better to build your own e-mail list.

  11. Very good review of CB Passive Income 4.0. My take, CB passive income may not be a scam, but it’s not the best internet marketing training product out there.

I know one of your top recommended programs, Wealthy Affiliate. I have been a member there for several months and have made a ton of progress with my own affiliate marketing website.

I can certainly attest to the quality training, community support and the keyword and website builder are awesome.

I signed up for your Traffic eBook and am loving that too. It’s kind of a guide for posting content you want to rank.

    1. Awesome NC, thanks for the feedback on CB passive income 4.0 and Wealthy Affiliate. There’s no doubt that Wealthy Affiliate is one of the top internet marketing training program out there.

I’ve been a member for over 3 years and I’ve learned so much and am really thankful to their program.

I don’t see myself ever not being a member there simply because of the Site Rubix website builder, community support, and ongoing training.

I can always learn something new there that positively effects my business.

  12. CB Passive Income 4.0 does seem to be on the spendy side of things. I personally have a hard time with squeeze pages however, I don’t see a lot of content and quality on those.

I would just shut them down and go find something that would be of more benefit to me. Google is cracking down on squeeze pages, quality content will win out in the end.

  13. Despite the social media integrations, Patrick Chan’s system sounds a bit old school at this point. Plus, unless there is a feature to integrate your own autoresponder system with his, you are essentially building his list for him. I will check out you free training series as it sounds like a much better option.

  14. Thanks for the info On Patric Chan CB Passive Income 4.0

Your outline is helpful But I think a great number of people can give their own testimony on Patric Chan CB Passive Income

There are a large number of Internet entrepreneurs who are using similar strategies to make money from the innocent.

Mind you. They will send you a check monthly, However, it will not be big enough for you to redeem as much as the quarter of what you spend.

Information is key to development. Keep up your good work continue to keep the people informed.

  15. Permit me to deviate a bit… how does one get targeted audience to drop their emails? I think people are becoming most careful with their emails to avoid being bombarded.

    1. Yeah that’s the problem. Getting traffic is the hardest part of any online business. CB Passive Income claims all you need is to send traffic to these landing pages but most people don’t know how to do that in the first place. Thanks for leaving a comment.

  16. I like this post as it gives some good and trustworthy advice on avoiding spending money on marketing that gets you nowhere. And I found especially interesting the link on how to build an email list as it is hard to find this sort of easily doable information online. I will be using this advice to build my own email list and if I need help I know I can ask here. thanks

    1. Sounds great Stefanie, just let us know if you need any help. There’s also pretty extensive training’s at

      Wealthy Affiliate.

You can get a free membership as well and get tons of free training’s there.

  17. Hey Tim,

Just to clear some things, when you say “cold-emailing” does this mean that the people in the email list are not a targeted audience? in other words they don’t have a particular interest?

I can’t imagine this being a very effective strategy.

Promoting products to uninterested consumers its a very difficult task. Its almost like working for an MLM company. I been there before and there is a very low success rate.

    1. Hey Rayder,

I’ll step in for Tim on this one. You’ve got it right, you want your audience (whether that’s a website or email list audience) to be warm and targeted.

The warmer the better. If you’re targeting your audience based on helping them or their needs, you’ll always see better sales conversions.

With CB Passive Income 4.0, you might get some leads that have interest in what you market, but it’s not as effective as when you target them through content.

And this can be an email series or written content you publish on your site to help a niche audience that you target to rank in Google.
