If you’re asking how to make a web page, that’s awesome.
Creating a website might seem like a challenge but it’s actually super easy!
And I’m going to show you exactly how to do it in this article.
Even better, I’ll show you how to do it on a small budget. So forget about those people who say a large investment is required to build a website or online business!
It’s not true.
How to Make a Web Page And Make Money..
I made this guide to prove that it’s possible for anyone to create a website and make progress towards their online business goals.
If you feel like you don’t have the technical skills to create a website… this guide is for you.
If you feel like you have no idea where to start when it comes to making money online… this guide is for you.
If you’re just looking for a way to make fast websites… this guide is for you, too.
There’s really nothing stopping you. It’s super simple.
I’ll take you by the hand and show you how to use our favorite tools to not only come up with web page ideas, but also a list of keywords for tons of articles that you’ll publish.
Next, website creation.
I’ll show you how to use Site Rubix (WordPress Website Builder) to build a beautiful website in any niche, it’s super simple and easy to put up websites with this tool.
Read my in-depth Site Rubix Review Here for more information.
But the best part is that I’m going to make a website with you.
I’ll show you how it works in real-time.
Then, we’ll talk about how to come up with some article ideas and how to drive traffic to your website, traffic that will continue to come in time and time again.
So, we have a lot of topics to cover, but I’m excited and confident that you’ll have as much fun reading this article as I did writing it for you.
Just remember, without action, knowledge is useless. I can’t force you to create a website on online business. Nobody can take action for you.
This is something that you have to do, if you want to see results.
But don’t worry, it’s not that complicated.
Prep Work: Researching Web Page Ideas and Keywords
We could just dive straight into creating a website based on an abstract idea, but there’s no way to tell if that idea will be a success.
Instead, we’ll need to do some research to see if our website idea has potential.
We want to make an online business, and businesses need to make money, so it’s important to determine if a website has income potential before you start working on it.
Otherwise, we might waste a lot of time on a project that doesn’t deliver any results.
On that note, even if you do create a website that doesn’t deliver results, it’s still a learning experience, and you shouldn’t beat yourself up about it.
We learn. We try again.
With these tips, our chances of getting it right on the first shot significantly increase!
To find a website idea, I’ll be using our favorite keyword research tool, Jaaxy Keyword Research Tool.
We’ll look for some keywords that have a decent amount of traffic with low competition. In other words, keywords that will be easy to rank for in Google.
So let’s head on over there and start looking for some keywords.
If you don’t have an account, click this link to create a free trial account.
Once inside the membership area, it’s time to look for some keywords.
This is where you have to use your imagination to look for decent keywords in the niche that you want to target.
The Jaxxy platform will also make it easy for you to find the right keywords with helpful suggestions. This brainstorming feature is a life saver for content ideas. Next.
What niche do you want to target? What’s your website idea?
I had an idea to create a website dedicated to teaching dog owners how to train their dogs to do interesting and funny tricks.
So I went ahead and typed the words, “dog tricks”, into Jaaxy to get a feel of what keywords are out there.
Let’s take a look at the results.

As you can see, the exact key phrase, “dog tricks”, does get a lot of traffic, but it’s also very competitive.
It would be pretty much impossible for a new website to rank on page one for that keyword.
Why? Because new websites have no authority and won’t rank high in search engine results.
Taking a look at the other keywords, we see some that might have potential.
The green circle next to the keyword indicates the keyword has low competition, and is therefore easier to rank.
Clicking around on the suggestions box on the right sidebar, I found this keyword.
Here’s one that looks decent, the traffic is there, and the competition is not too high, “how to teach your dog tricks“.

We’ll click on that result. When you click on a keyword in Jaaxy results, it will automatically do a new search for that keyword.
Here Are The Results:
Here, we already found two decent keywords.
But we’ll look for more.
Sometimes there’s a really good keyword out there, it’s just takes some time to find.
Let’s use the suggestion box on the right sidebar.
These suggestions are awesome because they’re long-tail keywords (three or four words in a phrase) and these are easier to rank because they’re not as competitive.
I recommend creating an Excel or Google Doc sheet to manage and track all the keywords that you find.
You can also do this with Jaaxy’s Keyword List’s, a super useful feature to save keywords and see the potential traffic.
Clicking on the first suggestion in the sidebar, a new search will start, and we’ll see some new results.
Here we found another decent keyword.
Can you see which one it is?
The traffic is over 300 and the QSR is 28.
That means there are only 28 webpages competing for that keyword phrase.
We’ll have a good chance to beat them! If we write quality content about the topic at hand.
I will save this one and the other one we found to our keyword list in Jaaxy.
When looking for keywords, it’s a good idea to think about all the topics related to your niche. Brainstorm a bit.
For instance, if I chose to go with the keyword, “How to teach your dog to walk on leash“, I could follow up with, “How to teach your puppy to walk on a leash“, and other related keywords.
And then we could look for specific dog breeds and how to train them to walk on a leash, when to train them, when to train puppies, and much more.
So you see, when you find one idea, a lot of other ideas can branch out from it.
It’s also a good idea to look for affiliate products to write reviews about.
We’ll talk more about how to do that later on in this article.
We want to drill down and find a really specific keyword and the only way we can do that is with brainstorming!
Here’s an example of some brainstorming for our dog trick example:

You can find decent keywords pretty fast but it’s much better to take your time with keyword research so you can find the best ones.
There are always some excellent keywords in any niche that will take awhile to find. It takes time but it’s worth it.
I will continue the steps mentioned in this section; look for keywords using the suggestions box and try to brainstorm ideas.
What’s the Right Amount for Keyword Competition?
Look for keywords that have at least more than 100 traffic and less than 100 QSR (those are competing web pages).
Remember, we’re going to make a website from scratch, so it won’t have any authority at the moment, and it will still be awhile until it organically appears in search engines under our targeted keywords.
But with some work, it should be ranking for the keywords and bringing in traffic.

We started with a general phrase, “Dog tricks“, and now we already have some really specific keywords that could potentially bring in a lot of traffic.
The key is to try and branch out and find all the keywords that somewhat relate to your niche.
But let’s move on to website design.
How to Create a Web Page With Site Rubix:
So here’s where you’ll learn how to make a webpage with Site Rubix.
I suggest you don’t continue this tutorial until you have completed the previous keyword research steps.
Only continue when you have a decent sized list of keywords, at least ten or more.
But assuming that have done the keyword research, here’s the next step in our tutorial; making a website.
First, we’ll need a domain.
A domain name is the base of your website, and it’s important to pick a catchy and simply domain name.
It’s also a good idea to try to find a domain name that has an exact match to one of the keywords that you found.
The reason for that is because Google stills assigns some search engine optimization points to websites that have an exact match keyword domain.
Just make sure that it makes sense!
Ones of Jaaxy’s features, a domain checker, will search through different domain networks to see if that exact match domain is available.
Keep in mind that your domain name doesn’t necessarily have to be a keyword.
But it helps.
So we’ll look for a domain for the first keyword we found. Click “Search” under “Domain” and then choose “.com” if it’s available.

You’ll be re-directed to Wealthy Affiliate’s check out page.
Here’s what it looks like:

Most domains will cost $13.99 for a year, if it’s available.
Though it is possible to make a website on a free hosting platform without a domain, I highly recommend purchasing a domain.
It’s a very small investment and it makes a huge difference.
When you purchase a domain through Wealthy Affiliate, it will automatically link to Site Rubix and you won’t need to forward any name servers.
You’ll also get free state of the art Cloud Hosting when you buy your domain name from Wealthy Affiliate which is pretty cool.
Another option is to use Siteground as a dedicated host.
Now, you can start making a website.
Head on over to Site Rubix in Wealthy Affiliate, and click on “Create New Website” and you’ll see a page like the one below.
Next, click the drop-down box and choose the domain that you just bought. It should be there.
Fill in the details (website name, description, etc.) and choose a theme from the list below.
The details can be changed later so this isn’t super important.
Then, click “I’m Ready Build My Website”.
When that’s complete, a webpage will appear with your login details.
Take a look at the image below.
I recommend changing the password as soon as possible.
So with a few clicks you already made a website!
But now you have to head to your login address and login to start editing the website and adding content.
Type in your password and username and you’ll see the WordPress dashboard.
Right now your website will be completely empty, except for a few sample pages, so it’s time to work on filling it up with content and making it look good.
The First Step in Setting Up Your Website..
We’ll need to add some plugins and customize the website a bit.
Here’s a list of free plugins that you should install on your website:
- WP Super Cache
- WP-SpamShield
- Jetpack
- Yoast SEO
- Contact Form 7
Next, it’s time to make some webpages.
Three Web Pages Every Site Needs
We’ll need to make three webpages; About, Contact, and Privacy Policy.
To add pages, on the left sidebar there’s a menu labeled “Pages”.
Delete the sample page and click “Add New” with the title you wish.
The About Page should explain who you are and what your goals are for the website.
Be honest. Be transparent. And include pictures if you can.
People want to know who is behind the website, now is your chance to show them.
Don’t hold back.
The contact page should have your contact details or a contact form is fine too.
It’s always a good idea to make it easy for people to contact you so that you can collect feedback and suggestions.
The Privacy Policy is standard and every website should have one.
It’s fine to copy and paste a policy into this section.
When you write a new post and hit the publish button, it will appear on the main page of the website.
This is where most of your content should be.

Writing Content: Traffic & Sales by Affiliate Products
So now that you have a platform to use to make sales, it’s time to figure out how to get traffic.
This is actually one of the hardest parts of working online.
Everyone is fighting over traffic.
Since your website is so new, it will take some time for it to appear on Google.
But this gives you some time to write content, so that when the website does get visitors, they’ll be impressed.
But how will you make money from the website?
The easiest way would be to promote affiliate offers.
We discussed how to do this in a previous article, I recommend reading it and then coming back to this one.
This is where your keywords will come into the picture.
We need to write articles based on those keywords.
Now, there are a lot of different ways to get traffic, writing keyword targeted articles is one method.
Consider Ads, Social Media, And Guest Posts!
In fact, I recommend that you create a Facebook and Twitter account for your new website.
Remember that writing articles is a slow source of traffic.
It builds up slowly as your website grows and moves up in search engine results.
Don’t expect to write one article and receive a wave of traffic as soon as you hit the publish button.
You’ll need quite a lot of articles to see consistent results. About 15-20 quality posts to start seeing some traffic.
So forget about instant results for now.
To make money from our website, we’ll write reviews about products in our niche, compare them, and include affiliate links.
We’ll also write keyword targeted non-promotional articles to drive traffic to various pages and offers.
When we point someone towards our recommended product, and they buy it, we’ll earn a commission.
That’s the basic affiliate website, and it works!
Of course, if you want to make your own product, that’s even better, and that’ll drastically increase your income.
But for now we can start with affiliate offers.
Once your pages and plugins are installed, it’s time to start writing articles.
Content Creation Tips You Should Know:
It’s a good idea to plan these articles before you create your website, maybe even write them or hire a writer to write some prior to creating the website.
Navigate to the Post menu and delete Hello World; that’s a sample post that’s included in all WordPress-based websites.
Remember the keywords we found for our sample website?
This is where I would write an article based on them.
For example, I might write an article titled “How to Teach Your Dog to Walk on Leash: Experts Reveal Top 10 Tricks!” or something along those lines.
Then, I’ll write the article, or if I already wrote it, then I’ll copy and paste it into the WordPress editor.
I usually write the text before I worry about anything else in the article, I found that works for me.
Read this in-depth article about content creation.
Once the article is done – and sometimes this can take awhile if you want to make it really detailed (and you should) – I’ll add images and format the content.
If you installed Yoast SEO it’ll automatically detect if your content is ideal for search engine optimization.
Under the text editor you’ll see a menu with different details related to Yoast.
Enter your focus keyword, and take a look at the analysis to make sure everything is properly optimized.
If you get a green circle, then you’re good to go!
It’s also important to include images!
Wrapping it Up and Plans for The Future:
In this guide we learned how to research a website idea, how to find keywords, how to create webpage with Site Rubix, how to write articles that convert, and more.
It might seem like a lot to digest at the moment, but if you follow through with each step without worrying about anything else, it’s actually rather simple.
Here’s My Top Recommended Training >>
But setting up a website is only the beginning!
The real challenge is to build that website up from scratch and turn it into a lucrative source of income.
And that takes time and dedication.
There are steps that you can take to speed up the process, but it’s better not to worry about instant results.
Take your time to create a quality website that provides real value to people.
I see a lot of people who are excited about making money online but want to skip the hard work and dive right into the results.
They’ll use a lot of black-hat techniques to try to get ahead; like spinning articles and mass submitting them to different directories, or spamming affiliate links.
But it rarely works out for them, and more often than not, their websites will be removed from Google.
So it’s better to take it slow and steady and focus on quality and value instead of rushing the process.
Think of building a website like woodwork; no carpenter would rush through the planning and building stages.
He has to know that every little piece in the project will fit together, or he might build half of it only to realize it’s lopsided, and he has to start all over.
Take it slow and take it easy!
As long as you focus on finding hot keywords and writing well-written articles and reviews, the website will continue to expand.
You could speed up the process by hiring a writer or a team of marketers, but most people don’t have the budget for that.
It’s harder to do it alone but it’s also more educational.
Don’t get discouraged and keep writing those articles!
If you do need a hand to speed up the initial process, check out Human Proof Designs. They have a unique service that makes this initial stage easier if you’ve got a little cash.
What’s Next?
You’re bound to encounter a lot of issues while working on this project.
It’s inevitable, and even experienced internet marketers encounter problems.
That’s why it’s important to have a place where you can go to ask questions and receive instant answers from experienced people.
Feel free to ask me any questions you might have!

Hi Todd,
I really like how you’ve arranged this post – getting people to start off with keyword research and finding a niche that is actually profitable. You’ll find most poeple (like me) started off trying to build up a site with no idea of what to put on it.
This article gets people started on the right foot and shows them exactly what’ll be getting with WA. So good job!
I do have a question though. I know you said take it slow and steady, which is great advice but how long to feel it would take for a brand new site to start moneitizing? I know this depends on the niche and quality of content and the other stuff but a nice estimate would be great.
Thanks,
Lyle
Hi Lyle,
Thanks for your kind feedback on our How to Make a Web Page post. I’m glad it was easy to follow and clear. That’s so important for new internet marketers to understand.
As to your questions, it’s a great questions and quite common. I wrote a post about this and I think this will answer all your questions.
It’s called… How Long Does It Take To Make Money Online.
You know about niches and have a realistic perspective to creating your online business. The post will help alleviate any concerns you may have.
I had the same questions and it’s frustrating that it takes time, but once you get your site rolling, you’ll be glad you put int that initial effort.
Cheers,
Todd
Your post on how to make a webpage/website was very detailed and very helpful. A lot of newbies to online affiliate marketing like myself are still learning how to do these things and I have to keep reminding myself to take it slow and try and be as informative as possible with my posts and pages.
I use keywords when needed and try to chose the low hanging fruit ones when I see them right away. I am fortunate that I have found low hanging ones for both of the sites I am working on. I still try and keep myself in check when coming up with content and try not to focus too much on the selling part.
I always tell myself to do it for the site visitors and not for the money. I think that redirecting that thought helps me to keep my focus on what matters most.
Hi Jana,
You’ve definitely got the right mentality to create your own successful online business through an affiliate website.
Always keep your focus on helping and you’ll do great. It just comes off easily when you have the right intention.
One tip I’d give you is to check out our Free eBook. It’s based on targeting keywords and also goes into keyword placement. You might find this helpful if you’re not ranking your content as fast or as high as you would like.
Thanks,
Todd
The idea of having your own website is an amazing one but when it comes to getting started it’s actually quite daunting.
Building the website alone can feel like a huge barrier because, let’s be honest, how many of us know enough about programming to create our own and how many could afford to pay someone to do it for us?
Not many at all!
Thank you for this, I love that you start with the keyword research because too many people jump into a website that is doomed to fail from the beginning.
The bottom line is, if people aren’t interested you aren’t going to get anywhere not matter how much you put into it!
-Jessica
Very true Jessica. Anyone who’s researching how to make a webpage or how to make an online business needs to know that it all comes down to interest.
An interest in a niche, a topic, whatever. If you can connect and help out a niche audience, you can keep people interested in your online business.
The king remains Quality Content, but you need to make sure there’s interest in your niche. That’s where using a great keyword research tool like Jaaxy can save your time, headache, and money.
If your niche is specific, has an audience of at least 5,000/mo worldwide, you can make it happen. You just need the right education and support.
Best,
Todd
Man this is such a detailed post! Took me some time to read but it was certainly worth it. I had few doubts but after reading your article, things seem to be more clear than before.
The plugins that you recommended are a great choice, though I don’t prefer using Jetpack because it’s kind of heavy on the site. I used to have WP-Supercache installed on my site and it worked quite well but it created conflicts with other plugins at times.
After searching for some cache plugins, I came across this plugin called “Cache Enabler”. I don’t know how the developer has programmed it but it really works better than any other cache plugin in WordPress repository. It’s even better than W3TC.
You may want to give it a try.
Anyway, Thanks a lot for sharing info in such a detail.
Keep sharing ^^
Hi Lively Prince,
Thanks for your feedback on our post as well as some of your helpful suggestions. I’ve changed my cashe speed booster plugins from time to time.
Right now, I’m using GZip Ninja Speed Compression and Speed Booster Pack and my load times are pretty quick.
I think the key to building a webpage that ranks and brings in traffic is a combination of having your site optimized, but really about providing valuable content for your niche audience.
Hopefully, we’ve done a good job to show people how you can go from creating a singe webpage to a diverse online business.
All the right resources are there, it just takes action to make it happen.
Best,
Todd
Hi there, thanks for the comprehensive step by step guide on how to make a web page with SiteRubix. It could take me some time to fully comprehend and eventually get started, but seems simple enough.
I do have some doubts that need your honest opinion and guidance. Thanks in advance.
I’m thinking of hiring freelance writers to speed up on the content creation part. I’m planning to publish quality content twice daily. Is that alright?
And will I get penalized for publishing too frequently under the same author name which is myself? And also how about its effectiveness?
Does publishing too often seem awkward in the audience’s eye thus affecting the level of trust as a result?
Thanks again for your help and advice.
Hi David,
Great questions and you’re over analyzing everything, but that’s OK. Using a content writer to speed up the process is an excellent idea. Just make sure you do the final edit and SEO.
Google advises to post consistently. Like every day or every other day at the same time. This is hard to do for me, so I simple Fetch with Google Webmaster Tools and Bing WMT’s each and every time I post.
I actually have created a simple guide for this that I use each and every time I post and you are welcome to have it.
You can get our Free eBook and use this with each post that you create. It discusses how to target traffic through keyword research to reach your specific audience. Then there’s a nice breakdown on post publishing activities.
Don’t worry about publishing too frequently or publishing in just your name. I use a content writer and do the same thing.
By publishing more QUALITY & HELPFUL content you will increase your traffic and your audience will love it.
Cheers,
Todd
