What do You Know about CBD Oil?
Before we talk about how to make money selling CBD oil, it's best if we clear the air about some issues. CBD oil or Cannabidiol is extracted from cannabis plants, and it has been proven to improve a wide range of health issues. Currently, there is one FDA approved cannabis drug called Epidoloex in the United States, a drug used to treat seizures.

Can You Get High on CBD Oil?
When most people hear about CBD oil they assume it has psychoactive ingredients that make you high because it is extracted from cannabis. CBD oil is extracted from hemp, and hemp doesn't have nearly enough THC content to make you feel high. Hemp is a category of cannabis that has 0.3% or less THC levels.
What is Hemp?
Hemp is a plant in the cannabis family that's harvest mainly for industrial uses. The fibers derived from the plant have been used since ancient times, and only recently started to take off again. It's one of the most versatile resources out there, and it has been used in a wide range of industries, from clothing to building materials.

Hemp fabric.
When it comes down to it, CBD oil is much like any other plant-based oil, like olive flax-seed, or soy bean oil. The only difference is CBD oil is controversial because it's from the same plant as marijuana, which is classified as a drug in most countries.
But let's get back on topic.
Understand Your State Laws:
Since CBD oil is derived from the same plant that the drug marijuana comes from, on a federal level, CBD oil is still illegal. In other words, international trade is illegal and would be considered drug trafficking!
On the other hand, most states have approved the use and sell of the product, and it's quickly becoming a booming industry, hence why you're interested in selling CBD oil online. Before getting into the business, make sure to research the trade laws regarding this product. Currently, CBD oil is legal in 30 states.
That being said, if you're not directly selling CBD oil but promoting it for commissions through affiliate marketing, then you shouldn't have to worry about this issue. It's the supplier that has to watch who they sell and deliver to, so that's one of the many benefits to running a CBD oil and accessory business using affiliate marketing
Now that we got that out of the way, let's move on to the money-making steps.
Find a Good CBD Oil Affiliate Partner:
If you're a regular reader, chances are you know we highly recommend affiliate marketing as a way to make money online. The truth is most companies that have a product or service have an affiliate program too, and there are many affiliate programs in the CBD oil industry.
The reason we'll look for an affiliate program is because it's an easy way to make money promoting what you love, without having to create an actual product. So unless you can manufacture and brand your own CBD oil, finding a CBD oil affiliate program is your best option.
The Bigger Picture Here...
Our goal is to find a good CBD affiliate program, one that has decent commission rates and pays often, and then do your best to promote that offer. We'll be promoting offers through a simple website, which we can set up in a few minutes. But let's not get ahead of ourselves just yet.
A simple Google search reveals some excellent CBD oil affiliate programs, one of which is a company called Joy Organics. Their affiliate program pays 25% commissions, two times a month, with a 60 day tracking cookie.
As with any market, there will always be some sketchy looking companies and downright scams. Not to mention the pyramid schemes that have infiltrated practically every industry these days.
Wait a Minute!
Promoting a MLM Company is NOT a good idea.
When researching CBD oil affiliate programs, avoid any companies that require you to pay a fee or purchase a package. These are most likely multi-level marketing companies, which are essentially pyramid schemes. The link above explains why promoting a multi level marketing company is not the best idea.
Take your time researching CBD oil affiliate programs, it's what will bring in the cash. Group together a handful of offers and products (3-5 different affiliates will do the trick), and narrow it down from there. Besides Joy Organics, here are some more examples:

Once you have a couple decent programs, we can move on to the next step in the business. Now that we have something to promote, we need to figure out how to promote the offer to people who are interested in it. To do that, we need to do some keyword research.
Discovering What People Want Online...
If you're already a bit familiar with online marketing there's a good chance you have heard about keyword research. If you haven't, no big deal. It's essentially how we find topics people are googling for on a daily basis.
Keyword research also makes it easy to rank in Google and other search engines and allows you to get your sales promotions in front of those looking to buy.
The problem is most people don't have a practical way to find decent keywords, and most likely you're not sure where to start. No worries, we'll show you a few easy ways to discover what people are searching for online, and how to get your offer in front of those people.
The Big Picture:
Our goal is to write articles based on keywords, and then use those articles to promote the CBD oil affiliate programs we found earlier.
Keep in mind, the below tips barely scratch the surface of proper keyword research (and optimizing your site so search engines find your site right away). If you want exact step-to-step tutorials, I suggest checking out my favorite training center. Ten free lessons are included.
Let's move on.
1. Use a Keyword Research Tool:
There are hundreds of keyword research tools out there, and each company claims to have the best one. As far as keyword research tools go, I have found Jaaxy to be quite helpful at finding keywords with decent stats that are easy to rank. To me, it's the most 'make sense' keyword research tool out there. To read more about it, check out my Jaaxy review.
2. Use Google's Search Suggestions:
If you're not ready to drop cash on a keyword research tool, there are a few free alternatives for you. Google won't reveal the actual search volume of queries but it will give you some hints as to the popularity of that query.

Who's searching for that last result...
For example, Google's search autocomplete feature. When you start typing a phrase into Google, Google will try to predict what you're searching for, based on what other people have searched for.
By using what we call the "Alphabet Soup Technique", essentially running through the alphabet, we can see what Google populates for specific keyword phrases.
In other words, if you see the same phrase popping up in the autocomplete section, there's a good chance a lot of people are searching for that phrase. As I mentioned, it won't show the actual numbers, but it points you in the right direction.
3. Watch Google Trends:
Google Trends is another free tool that can help with your keyword research. Basically, it shows you how certain search terms are trending over time. What you're looking for is a clear upwards trajectory. But that's not all.
Google Trends also shows you which geographical regions generate the most search volume for that term, as well as related queries and topics. Very useful for keyword research.
With Google Trends and search autocomplete you can quickly come up with some ideas for articles. The keyword research tools will reveal your competition and expected search volume.
Next: Build an Online Store:
If you want to sell CBD oil online than you'll need a website. An online business is much like a puzzle, it's a matter of finding where the pieces fit, and putting them together.
If you have been following this article, now you have two main pieces of the puzzle, something to promote, and a series of keywords to target.
Where Do We Go From Here?
Well, now we need a platform to build on. We're going to make a website. If you never made a website before, you probably just had a minor panic attack.
Relax, we don't need to write thousands of lines of code. You'll be using a click-based website builder. Luckily for us, there's a really handy site-builder inside my favorite online training center, and you can use it to build a website in a matter of minutes.
It might take awhile for you to pick a theme and input your website's name and details, so take your time with it. Most of the settings can be changed later too, so there's no need to stress out over the details.
Quick Review:
(How to Make Money Selling CBD Oil Online)
Now you can see the pieces are finally starting to come together, but there are still some pieces missing from this puzzle. What comes next is content creation, where our keywords will be used to craft content.
How to Sell CBD Oil on Your Website:
Now the fun begins. We'll be writing content with the purpose of educating people while at the same time promoting our CBD oil affiliate programs.
The goal is to write extremely informative articles that target specific keywords. If you write the absolute best content you can, Google will rank your posts high in search results, and that will lead to a nice stream of traffic.
(Of course, many other factors come into play, but writing a good article that thoroughly covers your subject is the best place to start.)
Here are some examples of content templates to sell CBD oil:
- Review CBD Oil Products - Recommend Your Favorite
- Create CBD Oil Recipes, Share Them on Your Website
- Write Resource Guides on How to Find the Best CBD Oil
- Answer Common Questions About CBD Oil
- And much more.
When it comes to content and ranking in Google, it's best to not expect instant results. It takes a bit of time because you need to proved search engines like Google with enough content that they can categorize and rank your site based on the value your site provides the user.
Most of the time, it will take a couple months for your articles to appear in search engine results, at least at a permanent position. That might sound like a waste of time. I like to think of my articles as seeds for the future.
When published, they're not much, but over time they'll grow into a tree that continues to produce results. Get a few of those trees, and soon enough you'll have a forest.

Hi Todd
Great advice on selling cbd oil online has given me the inspiration to carry on working on my website promoting cbd oil affiliate products having let things slip.
One thing I did find when trying to promote my website with a paid ad on facebook is they don’t allow you to post paid ads regarding to CBD oil
Hey Graham,
Thanks for your feedback on our post. Keep working on your site, CBD Oil and related products will continue to grow and there’s plenty of room to make a ton of niche sites based on this one product. It’s just a matter of targeted your niche audience and making the connections from customer to helpful product.
OH, Facebook’s gotten so bad with their advertising policies, it’s almost not worth the bother to create an ad and try. Plus seems like Facebook’s going down anyways with all their privacy issues. Try YouTube ads instead.
Cheers,
Todd
I had no idea that the CBD oil was becoming so popular. The resources you mentioned in your article, I’m assuming are all good genuine sources for the product if I’m going to sign up and try to sell this product? I like the outline you put together to develop an online business selling the CBD oil. It all ties together. I have just started my experience with Wealthy Affiliate and I’m looking for a few good products to market to make additional income as I learn the ropes so to speak.
Thank you for linking all this together for me…it makes a lot of sense now. I also appreciate you putting your picture on the site as well, as it gives the information a real sense of authenticity.
You bet TimMoto, I’m glad to make the connections for you and appreciate your feedback. As an affiliate marketer, it’s up to you to test out your affiliate partners and make sure they deliver quality products.
I’m using these affiliates as examples as to what I’d look at when promoting CBD oil as an affiliate marketer. I would encourage you to even try out some of the products from your potential affiliate so that you know what you’re selling.
So it’s up to you to do your due diligence about the quality of affiliate you partner with. But the whole process of getting up an online business and building targeted traffic is an easy process and most anyone can do it if you know what you’re doing.
Stick with WA’s training and you’ll do great. If you decide to build a niche site based on CBD oil, come back and check out our post again or reach me inside Wealthy Affiliate.
Thanks,
Todd
Hi Todd, thank you for this valuable lesson of selling CBD oil online. I’ve heard about its controversy, but there are a lot of good testimonial coming from people who’ve used CBD oil. This is what make me interested to sell it as affiliate. Aside from US, do you know if there is restriction to sell it internationally as an affiliate OR is it really depends on who is the main seller? Thank you for your information.
Hey Alblue, thanks for your feedback and that’s the beauty of selling CBD oil as an affiliate. It’s not your responsibility to fulfill the order, so you don’t have to concern yourself as to who buys it. It’s up to the affiliate that you use to make sure they can mail and sell the product to whatever geographical location. Your job as the affiliate marketer is to get as many CBD oil patients or users to the affiliate.
Now as a CBD oil affiliate, you would want to know which areas are legal as you target keywords if you’re targeting specific locations.
Other than that, it’s a great niche and anyone who’s passionate about it should go forward with it.
Thanks,
Todd
Hey Todd, I found this post to be really informative. Truth be told, a lot of people that hear about CBD oil always feel it is something really good but as soon as they hear that it is an extract from a plant by which marijuana is extracted from they immediately lose interest because they feel it is a get high drug. One has to spend more time explaining it that although it extracted from the same plant that it does not have the same properties that marijuana has.
I have not really thought about selling this product online and now that I think about it I think that is money that is been lost. The fact that this product is not sold worldwide though has me worried. I am not entirely sure if I would be able to make enough profit if just a few states have access to CBD oil
Hey Jay,
You make some valid points but the reality is is that when you look at how many people are looking into CBD oil to solve health-related issues, you’ll see that the numbers are rising dramatically and so is the popularity for the CBD oil and related products.
I can’t speak the selling it internationally, but if you’ve got the ability to write quality content and you understand SEO, it’s pretty easy to get your products in front of customers that want to buy them.
As for your concern about what people think about cbd oil products, I think that stigma is fading away quickly. At least it is in the United States. You’ll find that people don’t really care that the product comes from marijuana if it works and helping them out with whatever physical ailments they have. But you’re right, you always have to do a bit of consumer education when you’re marketing products and this will definitely be one of those situations.
If you’re passionate about CBD oil, I’d say go for it. If you’re not, then go for a niche that you love or want to learn more about.
The cool thing is that you can make money selling most any products online via affiliate marketing without the risk of buying the products.
Thanks,
Todd
The CBD Oil market is so huge right now, this really hits home. I have a post that I published a while ago about Dogs and CBD, and it is really popular. I think CBD is a great product. I found some new great information about CBD affiliates that I didn’t know, so thank you very much.
Best of luck.
You bet Coralie and thanks for your feedback. Great point, CBD Oil and Animals are a great niche market. Not many would think to use this with animals but there’s a need so that would work too. The more detailed the niche the easier it is to rank and see success online.
Thanks
This is an excellent post, full of information and I will bookmark it to refer back to later. I have been skipping over websites I see about CBD oil because I am just starting online career and don’t want to offer products for sale yet. I am getting started with affiliate marketing and your post caught my eye because of your recommendation to promote CBD oil as an affiliate. Great suggestion! I also couldn’t agree with you more that the training and tools at Wealthy Affiliate are key to starting and sustaining a successful business. Thank you for all of this great info!
Hi Tama,
You bet and thanks for your feedback on my CBD oil post. There’s a ton of information out there right now about selling cbd oil and related products, but few talk about selling it via affiliate marketing.
The nice thing about affiliate marketing as you know is the lack of risk and stress from buying products that may or may not sell. So that’s one way to work in this niche without any financial or legal risk.
Thanks!
