Wondering how to start an online business from home? Well, there are quite a few avenues that you can take.
eCommerce, Freelance writing, graphic design, to name a few.
But we’ve noticed one model in particular to be especially attractive. In fact, most of the successful online business entrepreneurs I’ve seen, use this model.
What is this business model?
It’s called affiliate marketing and man is it making waves on the online community.
Why is this business model so attractive?
Well in a nutshell, affiliate marketing businesses tend to be fast, easy to set up, easy to learn, and most importantly, very affordable to start.
Don’t get me wrong, there are good programs and absolutely B.S. ones.
But the business model in general is a great opportunity for you to grow reliable and long term wealth!
How To Start An Online Business From Home:
Thankfully, it’s fairly easy to create a startup that uses an affiliate marketing model.
Becoming successful (think passive income) with this model is also realistically very possible. This is true even if you’ve had no previous experience in the industry.
You won’t get rich overnight, that’s for sure.
But, with enough dedication and time you will start seeing that it is worth it all.

Step 1: Find a Niche
“What type of niche am I interested in and know about? Which niche doesn’t have fierce competition and has great potential for profit?”
When considering your niche, you will want to ask yourself these questions.
Why is it important to promote products you actually want to sell?
Well, because it makes it easier to sell. You’re going want to be excited about the product you are selling.
If you are genuinely interested in the product, then your readers will notice and be more willing to believe you.
On top of that, being interested in a certain type of product will make it “easier” for you to do research about it.
Specializing in something and providing actual useful information to your potential clients will do wonders in attracting repeat visitors.
Another rule of thumb to abide by when choosing a niche is to avoid getting into industries that are very popular.
The reason behind this is that if you choose an overly popular niche, then there will be fierce competition.
It will be hard to get ahead without heavy investment of time and money.
Remember, the end goal is to grow consistent wealth. If the niche you’re are interested in is not making money, then ditch it and choose another.
You’re going to want to balance your personal preferences with a healthy business perspective.

Step 2: Choose an Affiliate Program
You will need to make sure that there are affiliate programs behind the niche before you go ahead with anything.
Unfortunately, there are a good deal of scams out there right now. So you will also want to make sure that the affiliate programs you are considering are both trustworthy and profitable.
If you are unsure of where to start you can always check out the affiliate titans like Amazon Associates, ClickBank, eBay, etc.
Step 3: Build a Simple Website
Depending on the affiliate program, you may or may not have to make a website to join.
Typically, when you are applying to become an associate, you will have to submit a link to your website.
They require this as part of their filtering process, because they don’t want their affiliate marketers tarnishing their reputation.
Even if an affiliate program doesn’t require you to have a website, you will still want to build one.
Why is that?
Well for starters, it’s very affordable and easy these days to build a basic website/blog.
There are a ton of services like WordPress that makes the process effortless.
WordPress offers their own hosting services. But you can always use a more affordable hosting service of your choice.
Here is our recommended hosting service.
Step 4: Produce Quality Copy
Copywriting, in short, is written content that is specifically designed to convince people to take a specific action.
And the action you’re going to want that user to do is to eventually buy something.
As you can see, copywriting is a really important part of a business. I would even go as far to say that an online business is incomplete without it.
Now if you have problems being creative on the keyboard or if you want a lighter workload, then you can always hire a freelancer to do the job for you.
When looking for a freelancer you’ll be tempted to look for the cheapest one on the market.
I wouldn’t recommend that because it’s important to have high level, quality content on your website for a number of reasons.
Why’s that?
Well first of all, if you have quality content, then you will be creating a positive brand image for yourself.
How customer’s view your website/brand is so important these days.
If you have written content on your website that is hard to understand, rough, and covered with errors, then you’re going to turn off potential clients.
The copy you put on your website reflects what type of a business you are running.
Not to mention that good copywriters are great at producing content that is SEO friendly.
And remember, the purpose of copy writing is to hook your visitor to your product. A sloppy copywriter won’t be able to compose a compelling article.
Paying that extra few dollars for a good writer is a wise investment.
Step 5: Track What Works
You can always experiment with multiple websites that have different niches.
Personally, I wouldn’t recommend this. Work with one niche website/blog and get it profitable before you venture out to other sites.
Keep it simple!
Instead, write targeted posts that you track.
Track how much traffic and sales you make on each marketing campaign you launch.
Some techniques work better on a target audience then others.
WordPress already has a pretty good system set up. But, there are a lot of services out there that will bring your tracking game to the next level.
The Bottom Line:
The great thing about affiliate marketing is that the more you pour into it, the more money you will most likely make.
As in, you can either use this model as a thing you do on your free time to make some extra money or you can go all out and live an extraordinary life with it.
I’m sure you’ve heard about those successful bloggers experiencing life through travelling.
Those are the people who’ve made a brave decision and choose to take working online to the next level.
What will you choose?
