While searching for ways to make a quick buck online, I kept coming across Microsoft Rewards, and I found myself wondering is Microsoft Rewards Worth It?

In today's review, we'll examine the tech-giant's rewards program to see if it is worth your time. Continue reading to find out if this program is right for you. 

Microsoft Rewards is a loyalty program created by Microsoft to reward users for completing actions using Microsoft's tools.

Members can earn points for completing a wide variety of tasks, and these points can be redeemed in a number of different ways, such as: discounts on movies & games, sweepstakes, gift-cards, apps, Xbox live membership, and cash back on purchases, to name a few. 

Ballpark Values: 

• 5 Points for Bing Searches
• 10 - 20 Points for Quizzes
• 20 Points for using Edge 
• 50 - 100 Points for Clicking on Emails, etc.

The program is designed by Microsoft to keep users on their products. For example, users are rewarded points for using the Microsoft search engine Bing, as well as conducting searches in Window's search bar. 

In short, it's similar to the usual loyalty programs, except this one is from a well-respected company, a company who produces products you're likely using to read this very Microsoft Rewards review! 

Getting back on topic, while trying to figure if Microsoft Rewards is worth it, I came across some interesting discoveries I'll share with you. 

First things first, you'll need to understand the value of each Microsoft point. Currently, one point is equal to about $0.001 which is one thousandth of a cent. The most popular task for earning Microsoft points is by using Bing to search for terms. Each search is worth about five points, or $0.005 (5/1000th of one cent).

A better way to think of this is 1,000 rewards points are worth about a dollar. 

After a quick calculation, it looks like you'll need to make 1,000 searches on Bing to earn the equivalent of $5. That's a lot of searches.

I don't even search for nearly that many things on any given day, and I work online full time. Nevertheless, there are a few ways to boost your income which may make Microsoft Rewards worth it. 

1. It's Not for Earning Fast Cash: 

Microsoft Rewards isn't primarily made for making cash. In fact, they don't offer direct-cash withdrawals, no PayPal options. But there are plenty of other ways to redeem the points. Nevertheless, if you're looking to make some fast cash, this probably isn't the right fit for you.

2. Only in a Handful of Regions:

Another point we need to mention is Microsoft Rewards is only available for certain countries, some are blocked, while others only have limited access. At the moment, the following countries have full access: US, Great Britain, France, Denmark, Canada, and Australia.

A handful of countries in Europe have limited access, but most of the earning options are disabled, so it's not worth it. Asia seems to be in that category too. 

3. Strict Earning Limits:

Besides that, there are strict earning limits. At the moment, there are two levels, and at Level 1 the amount of points you can earn is limited a total of 300 Points a day. There's also a limit on how you earn points too, but this limit varies depending on where you live, and often changes too. 

For Searches:

• Level 1 members earn up to 5 points a day, 150 points a month
• Level 2 members can earn 20 points a day, 600 points a month. 

From inside Microsoft Rewards you can see the current breakdown, though it is subject to change at anytime (Rewards page, Points Breakdown). 

You can also see how many points are needed for the next level. 

The following are some Microsoft Rewards tips and tricks you can try to boost your income with the program. 

1. Install Microsoft Rewards App on Your Console:

Recently, Microsoft launched an app that you can either download on your console or mobile phone. When using a device other than your computer you can earn even more Microsoft points.

These points can also go towards an Xbox Live membership, so essentially there's the possibility of getting free Xbox membership by using the rewards app. 

2. Microsoft Edge Bonus:

You can earn points by searching on Bing (will signed into Microsoft Rewards) from any browser, but a bonus will be added if you use Microsoft Edge to perform the searches. The bonus isn't much (about 20 Points). 

3. Check Your Emails:

Microsoft Rewards with often email you promotions or other links, and by simply checking the links you can earn some bonus points. Every little bit counts. 

4. Take Advantage of Streaks:

When you login, there will be a Daily Set recommendation for tasks to complete. If you can complete all those tasks in one day, and then continue to complete sets every day, a bonus will be added to your account. For example, if you complete the set 3 days in a row, 45 bonus points will be added, 8 days, 75 points, and so on. 

5. Enter Sweepstakes for a Chance to Win a Prize:

In the Redeem page, you'll likely see a Sweepstakes option that costs 200 points. These are like lucky-draws where you have a chance to win a prize. The prizes vary, from memberships (Office, Xbox Live, etc) to products such as Microsoft surface. The odds are unclear, though each ticket costs 200 points.

After reading this, it's tempting to search for Microsoft Reward bots and combine them with VPN's to "Trick" the program. I would strong advise against this, as it could result in a permanent ban.

Microsoft is the largest tech-giant in the world and they can easily spot suspicious behavior. Using these tools is against Microsoft's Reward's policy, and they will ban you when they find out. Don't risk it. 

Here's what makes Microsoft Rewards worth it. 

The program is free, and really easy to join. You can even use your original Microsoft account, no need to make a whole new account. 

Unlike other survey sites that sometimes fail to register points, Microsoft Rewards always instantly adds points to your account. There's no set cash-out price, as each reward costs a different amount of points. 

The idea is to reward people for using Microsoft products on a daily basis as they ordinarily would. So if you need to search for something online, open Bing and search to earn a few points. You can do the same on your phone as well. These little values can add up over time. 

4. Reputable Company:

This isn't one of those programs that claims to be backed by Microsoft or Google, it belongs to Microsoft, it's their program. You can rest easy that you won't be scammed because this is one of the most popular and reputable companies out there. 

5. Complete Tasks on ANY Device:

You can complete tasks for a wide variety of devices, not only limited to PC. For example, you can download the Microsoft Rewards App on your phone and Xbox console. Ideally, to earn the most rewards, you'll want to be completing actions on all of the above devices. 

But this doesn't mean Microsoft Rewards is worth it, there are some downsides that you need to know about. 

Below are some things we didn't like about Microsoft Rewards. 

Unfortunately, the amount you can earn for each action is usually very little, less than 100 points. Though if you do use the tips mentioned earlier, it's possible to earn a few hundred points a day. Nevertheless, you need at least 5,000 points to redeem a $5 gift card. It is quite time consuming! 

As mentioned earlier, the program is region locked, but some countries can access it with limited access. The limited access is really not worth it because more than half the earning opportunities are unavailable. 

After trying out and researching this opportunity, I feel I have an answer to the question, "Is Microsoft Rewards Worth It?". 

In short, if you're looking to make fast cash, Microsoft Rewards is not for you. On the other hand, if you're not desperate for money and you want to earn some gift-cards or discounts, this opportunity could be a decent fit. 

Naturally, it's not a long-term business model, as your maximum possible income is limited.
