Is Modere an MLM?
Yes. Modere is an MLM (Multi-level Marketing) in the health and wellness industry that specializes in supplements, house-hold care, and anti-aging products. Modere is a re-brand of the company called Neways International, a company that was involved in a number of lawsuits. With offices in over 8 countries, Modere has an international reach.
How Does Modere Work:
The way Modere works is the compensation plan and the opportunity are separate from the main website. Like most direct-selling businesses, you can only become a distributor by being invited to the program. I assume Modere uses this structure to hide the MLM aspects which are often associated with pyramid schemes (because they pretty much are).
Modere's business opportunity is called Shifting Retail. I'll explain more about their opportunity in the next section.
Making Money with Modere:
Even though Modere claims it's unique, the compensation plan (also known as Shifting Retail) is almost identical to other MLM companies. The worst part is they somehow managed to make it even more complicated than the usual compensation plans.
The Modere MLM system is a little different because they attempt to re-brand common MLM terms. For example, instead of calling the system what it is, an MLM, they call it "Social Retail" and "Independent Distributors" are referred to as "Social Media Marketers".
"...Our innovative social marketing strategy enables people like you to promote the Modere brand by simply referring and sharing our stylish, safe and smart products while earning income and rewards." - Direct Quote from Modere's Website
How Much Does it Cost to Join Modere?
To become a Social Media Marketer, you will need to pay an enrollment fee of $39.99 or buy a Pack. You will also need to add 75 Points of product to your SmartShip cart. The XM Launch Packs are recommended to kickstart the compensation plan, these range from $359.99 to $659.99.

Important:
The enrollment fee won't automatically qualify you for commissions. If you want to be automatically qualified, you have to add 75 Points worth of product to your SmartShip cart. SmartShip is basically automatic monthly orders.
Note: You can qualify for commissions without ordering products through SmartShip but you will need to earn 150 Activity Points. These are a combination of purchases you or your customers make within a month.
The minimum you can order to qualify for commissions:

Notice that the SmartShip fee will kick in a month after you enroll, and it will remain active until you cancel it. It's important to understand how that works before you register, otherwise you might be paying a lot more than needed.
The enrollment fee is annual, and it includes some benefits, such as 15% discount on Modere products, loyalty rewards, access commissions, a personal website, and a few others.

Promoting a MLM Company is NOT a good idea.
Modere's Compensation Plan Simplified:
Like most MLMs, Modere's compensation is overly complicated, a PDF file with 13 pages, two of which are glossary for terms. You can check out the full compensation plan here. I'll simplify it for you.
Customer POD Bonuses
At Modere, most of your income will be coming from Customer POD Bonuses. Customer POD Bonuses are first-orders from customers you invite the program. The commission rate depends on your title, and it's not available right away. You have to earn a minimum of 300-499 Customer Points (CP) to qualify for the first level of commissions, which is 5%.
There are 8 levels in total. The final level that has the best commission rate (36%) is Platinum 3 and you need 9,000 CP and 45 Active Customers to reach it. That's a lot of customers! Most members are stuck in the first couple of ranks (more on that later). The good news is the commissions are paid daily!
Here's a screenshot of the plan:

Monthly Team Builder Bonuses
As you probably guessed, another core way to make money with Modere is to build a team. Whenever you reach a new milestone of Enrollment Organization Points, you earn a new title along with a cash bonus.
Here are the first few levels:
- Team Leader - 1,800 EOP $100
- Senior Team Leader - 3,600 EOP $200
- Director 1 - 7,200 EOP, $500
- And so on.
Monthly Team Builder bonuses are only available in US and Canada and are paid monthly.
Generational Unilevel Bonus:

A MLM wouldn't be complete without a generational commission structure. These are small commissions that you earn from your downline's activity. Modere's has the potential to go 8 generations deep but most people won't reach the first two levels.
Here's a screenshot:

What happens if you flip that to the right? Looks like a pyramid doesn't it. These are the three main ways to earn money from the Modere MLM. Making money with Modere really boils down to the usual MLM strategy; invite people under you, build a team under you, and earn bonuses as you progress.
Now let's talk numbers...
How Much Money Can You Make with Modere?
The truth? not much. And it's very rare to make a profit. If you're familiar with MLMs, you probably know where this is headed. Modere's most recent income disclosure statement (from 2019) has some interesting insights.
Here we go:

So to summarize, the highest percentage of active members (16.24%) earn an average of $66.84 a month. The second highest category, 4.34%, earns an average of $316.66 a month.
Some other fun facts:
- 74.3% of active members did not earn any monthly commissions.
- The minimum monthly wage in the United States is $1,250. Less than 3% of Modere members earn that.
- 16% of Modere members earn an average of $2.228 a day. or $0.8 an hour.
- And there's no way to tell how much money members spend.
Is Modere Worth It?
No. Moderen is a typical MLM company and their compensation plan is not worth the money and effort required. Even if you work hard, the chances of you making a profit are very low. And it will barely be enough to cover your expenses. I do not recommend joining Modere or any MLM company.
Can You Actually Make Money Online?
You probably came across Modere because you the idea of making money online from home appeals to you. While there are a lot of sketchy opportunities out there, it's possible to make money online, even in 2021. What you need is to follow a legitimate strategy.
