I get a lot of emails asking “Is Operation 10K a Scam?“, so I went ahead and investigated the product to see what its all about.

What I discovered about the product may not come as a surprise to frequent readers of this website.

Can you already spot the red-flag? Hint: it’s in the name of the product.

Operation 10K Review

Product Name: Operation 10K

A screenshot of Operation 10k's product covers.

Product Type: Video Training for Affiliate Marketing: Product Creation

Creator: Matthew Neer & Desmond Ong

Price: $19

Rating: 60/100

Summary: Operation 10K is a basic, but decent, affiliate marketing training program with a nice starter price.

The problem is it has a ton of up-sells that you will need to purchase in order to learn and become successful in affiliate marketing.

The training videos won’t give you enough support and guidance to launch your own affiliate products in my opinion and there are better, more in depth training programs out there.

What is The Operation 10K?

Operation 10K claims members can earn thousands of dollars a day with their system.

The initial sales  video is over-the-top and includes all the red-flags we discuss on this website; fancy cars, thick wads of cash, parties, and crazy income promises.

The creator of Operation 10K, Desmond Ong, is a successful internet marketer and seminar host.

Unlike other products, at least we have a real person behind this one, and Desmond has his own website where you can find more information about him.

Operation 10K is a system based on sending traffic through a custom-made sales funnel.

The sales funnels you make are based off the one for the main product.

Basically, the idea is to make a low-cost product and then build a funnel around it, monetizing every possible part of the funnel.

This strategy is not inherently bad and plenty of marketers use the same methods.

It’s also not new, either.

What Does Operation 10K Training Teach?

I had a hard time finding out what is behind all the hype and income promises!

I have to admit, I was expecting this product to be another scam, but the training is not that bad.

When you manage to make it through all the hype and up-sells, the member’s area contains some decent training to help you start building a funnel.

As I mentioned earlier, the idea is to first create a low-ticket product.

An image from Operation 10k showing the platform's 4 steps.

The product could be an eBook or a little training module – anything!

In the video training you’re told to submit the product to affiliate marketplaces, like Clickbank and JV-ZOO, to find affiliates.

So you make the product, find some affiliates, and hopefully they’ll be able to do all the work  for you.

Then, when people buy the product, they’re added to your email list, and you can market to them later on.

So its a pretty standard product-creation based strategy to making money online.

The first video in the training series is about mindset and how to stay motivated when working on this kind of business.

The other videos are all about the system; c

  1. Coming up with a product idea.
  2. Making the product.
  3. Getting affiliates.
  4. Making the funnel
  5. Adding up-sells to the funnel, traffic, and more.

Honestly, the videos are quite interesting but don’t expect to earn thousands of dollars a day!

The product-creation route (to make money online) can be quite lucrative, but it might not be the best choice for beginners.

There are some things I did like, which will discuss in the pros section.

What tends to happen is marketers make one product, build up hype for it, launch it, earn some quick sales, and it withers and dies.

Wait a few months… and repeat the process.

This never-ending cycle of product launches is very common in the internet marketing industry!

It’s also not very stable.

Is Operation 10K a Scam: The Cons

Operation 10K has some flaws, we’ll list them here.

For one, there is far too much hype!

I don’t like it when products promise the world – honestly – I’m sick of it, and I’m sure you are too.

The fancy cars, mansions, and other demonstrations of wealth are cheap attempts to lure people in.

Tired of the Hype?

If this product could cut back on the hype, I would like it a lot more.

You can make decent money with product launches, but you should be careful because not every launch goes according to plan.

If you’re not providing value and you’re only looking to make some quick cash, it won’t be long before people see through you.

Another downside are the up-sells.

There are about four up-sells, and each one is more expensive than the last.

I also didn’t like how the video training doesn’t teach people how to make a sustainable business model.

It basically just teaches you how to continue making and launching products.

But its not all bad.

Operation 10K Pros:

There were some things I like about this course.

One of the things I liked the most was the concept of building a buyer’s list with a simple sales funnel.

Basically, the idea is to sell a low-cost item so you can build a list of people who are confirmed buyers.

This provides the opportunity to sell them more products later on.

It’s an interesting idea, to say the least.

I also like the idea of making it really easy for affiliates to promote your product.

On the first page of the funnel you put links to your affiliate program, so affiliates can grab their link right away and start sharing it.

One more upside is the price is quite low – $19 one-time fee – so its not a rip-off. Plus, there’s a 60-day money back guarantee.

So Is Operation 10K a Scam?

To be clear, I don’t think the product is a scam.

It’s a video training course that teaches you how to build the exact same type of product and funnel you went through to buy it.

These funnels can definitely make cash.

But problems tend to arise when people think only in terms of how much cash they can make.

You shouldn’t be trying to get products out there as fast as possible so you can make cash.

I think, and most entrepreneurs agree with me on this one, cash always follows value.

Make the value first, and the cash will come.

  1. Todd, I appreciate the honesty in this review of Operation 10K. I saw the name Matthew Neer along with Desmond Ong and I immediately wanted to file this away with the rest of the scams.

But it does seem to have a little value and your review confirmed that. Still, I don’t trust that Matthew Neer guy though. I’m on his list and all he ever recommends is low quality product after low quality product.

    1. Right on Jay, thanks for the feedback on Operation 10K.

I run this entire site using four products.

      1. Wealthy Affiliate: hosting, education, continued education, etc.

      2. Jaaxy: kehyword research, check rankings, etc.

      3. Aweber: My autoresponder for email marketing.

      4. Thrive: This might be what you need. Thrive is what I use to build all my landing pages, sales pages, email optin’s, and for high converting themes.

If you know white hat SEO, keywords, and the basics, you may need to step it up with Thrive. Not only do they have a bunch of cool tools, they have classes that will help improve your copy writing skills.

Those 4 products cost me about $3 dollars and some odd change per day to run my online business, that’s pretty amazing I think.

      Anyways, hope that helps.
      Todd

  2. Hi Todd. Thanks for an honest and comprehensive review on this Operation 10K. I am already a Wealthy Affiliate, but it just takes too long to make a commission. But it’s worth the investment. As a newbie, one needs to make money so that you can sustain your online business or presence. I a little confused about what you said that it is $19 to check out Operation 10K. Does it mean that’s only to check out and eventually you have to pay an additional amount?

    1. Hi Francis,

I don’t think you’ll find something you are missing in Operation 10K that you are not going to find in Wealthy Affiliate.

It also doesn’t take a long time to make a commission with Wealthy Affiliate. I’ve seen new members make incredible amounts of money.

It depends on your niche and how you funnel is set up.

I think the reason people stuggle with WA sometimes is because the don’t do all the training or they just don’t have a very convincing sales funnel.

So, you are looking for a 3 – 4 click funnel. Here’s how it looks: Person googles something (click one), your site is on page one because you targeted a keyword phrase and got it to rank 1st page in Goolge, they click on your awesome Title and Description of your helpful post (click 2).

Then the person reads your amazing content and decides to read a product review or click to a product to buy (click 3). If they go to the product review first, then click to your affiliate, that’s click 4.

I think WA has all the webinars you need to learn how to build convincing landing pages and email options and create content that sales.

But they don’t have the entire system. Thrive Architect (really the whole Thrive Membership) does.

They’ve got themes that are designed to convert sales and they’ve got all the crisp landing pages and email optins you could ever want.

It’s a step up in training and once you learn all that Wealthy Affiliate teaches in their Online Entrepreneur program, check out Thrive.

      Best,
      Todd

  3. This review gives me a quick look at what Operation 10K is and some inside comments. I bought Desmond Ong’s Golden Gooses before and if I’m not mistaken, it is also a low priced product. The price is exactly the same as Operation 10K. There are 2-3 up-sells during registration. I felt frustrated and eventually, I asked for the refund.

As a newbie, Internet marketing is attractive, but we don’t have the capability to distinguish what is necessary and which path is correct. We offen pay money and find the result not as what the slogan claimed.

I am interested in learning how to make a funnel and collect a list. Can you share with me more about this?

    1. George, you have some great points and I felt the same way. There’s a handful of good products out there that get right down to it.

I’ve listed them on our Top Internet Marketing Resources but I think for beginners, there’s no better place than Wealthy Affiliate.

You can always take other programs later, but start with Wealthy Affiliate

For what they offer they should be expensive, but they’re not.

You get free hosting (SSL Certification, Cloud Hosting included) and structure classes that will teach you some awesome stuff.

Particularly, how to manage and build your website/online business correctly from the start.

How to target traffic to reach your niche audience and then later how to do PPC, social marketing, email marketing, etc.

I’ve been a member for over 3 1/2 years for good reason. Plus you can watch weekly webinars and there’s a library of these to consume.

      Hope that helps,

      Todd

  4. I really learned a lot about Operation 10K from this review. I appreciate the time and research you put into it. It’s hard to find reviews where you feel that the reviewer really gets to know the product.

Very easy to follow and I appreciate the other resources added to this review. I’m still checking them out.

I think for those searching for a real online business opportunity will find this review informative and beneficial. Thanks, Operation 10K might be a future product for me.

  5. Thank you so much for providing such a thorough review regarding Operation 10k. It’s hard to sift through the authenticity of Making Money Online Programs, but your insight provided a lot of solid points.

The Pros and Cons clearly break down those points and make it easy for me to decide if I want to move forward with such a program or find something else that suits my personality better.

    Thanks again!

  6. Great review Tim! You really broke down pretty much everything there is to Operation 10K. I’m a bit confused though because you said that it cost $29 in the article, but up at the top, it said the price was $19.

I totally agree with you about the value and that the program shouldn’t put so much emphasis on simply pushing out products and making money just for making money sake.

Keep up the good word bro!

    1. Hi Joeka,

Thanks for your feedback on our take on Operation 10K.

It’s $19 to check out Operation 10K, sorry about that, typo error. Thanks and good eye.

  7. I really wasn’t expecting a positive review on Operation 10K when I saw this on fb. Seems like a decent program of value.

I’ve been working on my niche affiliate marketing website and after checking out your review, I started looking through your site.

Let me just say, i hope my affiliate site will turn out half as good as this one! Wow, I’m just amazed to the point that I’m speechless. It makes my site look immature. I know I’m just starting out but this is a great model and example of how great you can actually make these websites with time and dedication. Wow, Wow, Wow.
