Wondering if Niche Tycoon is a scam? Will it teach you how to build an authority website from scratch? Is it worth the price?
These questions, and more, will be answered in this review!
Niche Tycoon Review – Product at a Glance
- Name: Niche Tycoon
- Niche: How to Build an Authority Website
- Price: $99 One-Time Fee
- Creator: John Dykstra
- Recommended: Yes
What is Niche Tycoon?
Niche Tycoon is an online training course that teaches how to build an authority website in any niche.
The creator of the product, John Dykstra, runs a website called Fat Stacks Entrepreneur, an online business and marketing website.
After reading some of the articles on his website, its clear to me he knows how online business works.
Based on the content of his marketing website, I would guess any course he launches will be packed full of valuable information.
As it turns out, I was right.
Niche Tycoon is one of the better products I came across.
Immediately I noticed a few things I loved about the course.
For starters, it’s not too expensive, and only a one-time payment is required.
Secondly, there are over 80 Lessons.
These lessons span the whole authority website building process!
Is This The Right Product for Me?
Who is the product’s target audience? Beginners? Experienced marketers?
Is Niche Tycoon the right product for you?
After taking a look at Niche Tycoon, its clear the training will work for anyone, beginners and advanced marketers alike.
On the other hand, some of the training is more geared towards experienced marketers.
No Up-sells!
Not even one?
That’s right.
Zero up-sells!
How refreshing is that?
The training is a little bit advanced, but the first lessons are simplified and perfect for anyone interested in building a site.
To be clear, the course focuses on how to make money via Google Ad-sense, and John makes it clear Ad-sense is his main source of income.
Personally, I’m not such a fan of Google Ad-sense because the pay-outs are a bit low, and there are much better ways to earn from a site.
I like to target specific traffic because…
- It’s easy to do.
- The leads are warmer and ready to buy.
If you want to learn how to do this too…
Nevertheless, the same methods can be used to make money from any source.
For example, if you want to make money with Google Ad-sense you need plenty of traffic.
The course teaches you how to write keyword targeted articles and market them for an abundance of traffic.
Regardless of what you promote, learning how to drive traffic to a site is incredibly valuable.
But John recommends having a few sources of income on a website; ads and affiliate products.
Niche Tycoon Training Material:
There are over 83 lessons that span 10 sections.
The training consists of PDF files and videos.
Some of the lessons might seem a little over the average person’s head, such as how to turn your website-based app!
Regardless, those lessons are way later in the course, and when you reach that point you will have enough information to follow the steps.
Honestly, the training material blew me away!
There’s so much value packed into this product – it is incredible.
One of the sections I particularly loved was about how to get free traffic to your site.
Basically, the training reveals a ton of interesting strategies you can use to market your business via social media platforms.
There’s also a section dedicated to PUSH notifications, a new feature I have been seeing on websites.
Basically, its a plugin that asks you for permission to send a notification to your browser when a new article is published.
A lot of authority websites are using this feature – and it seems to work quite well.
Niche Tycoon is Updated Regularly!
Another key point worth mentioning is the training is updated quite often.
Just this year, more than 23 videos were added to the database!
It makes it easy to notify people of a new post without invading their email inbox.
Not many marketers talk about this method, so I thought it was interesting Niche Tycoon has a whole lesson dedicated to PUSH notifications.
Going through the course, I felt a little overwhelmed with the marketing techniques.
There are so many ideas!
I think it would be difficult for a one-person team to focus on all these strategies, unless you outsource (and there’s a lesson on that too!).
Niche Tycoon does provide you with an excellent road map for your business.
For example, we can start with one or two social media platforms for now, and when the website grows, expand to other platforms.
The training also walks you through the first steps of online business; finding a niche, keyword research, choosing a domain, theme, and building a site.
Most People Would Pay Thousands of Dollars for This Information!
And its true.
There are other, inferior, courses that charge ten times the price of Niche Tycoon.
So Niche Tycoon is definitely a good investment.
Just one year ago, the product was on sale for $199 for one-time fee.
Now its only $99 one-time fee.
I’m not entirely sure why the price is so low, but I’m assuming its because John Dykstra doesn’t really need the cash, as he already owns several successful websites.
Not to mention you can find a whole wealth of information on his blog alone!
Review Conclusion: Is Niche Tycoon a Scam?
Not at all.
In fact, its one of the best products I came across during my time spent researching online business courses.
On the other hand, I felt that the product does have one downside; its a little bit overwhelming!
But that can be easily remedied by taking your time with each lesson.
Don’t try to skip over the lessons because you might not understand the next lesson.
My advice: take your time with the course.
Spend one day on one lesson, digest the information, implement it.
Then move to the next lesson.
Also, I don’t recommend trying to establish a presence on every social media platform.
Start with one or two, like Facebook and Twitter first, then work on the others.
All in all, I highly recommend Niche Tycoon, its an excellent value-packed course at an affordable price.
Alternatively, take a look at my favorite online business training center, it’s been my #1 recommendation for years for good reason!

Hi Todd,
First and foremost, Great Review! I’m currently a member of Wealthy Affiliate and am trying to learn and implement all phases of training.
I just signed up to get your free eBook, and so far it’s intriguing. I’ve only seen the first couple of pages but you can bet I’m gonna read it!
Niche Tycoon sounds like a great training source as well. Would you say it’s as good as Wealthy Affiliate in terms of training?
Cheers,
Darren D.
Hi Darren,
Thanks for your kind feedback. That’s a good question and I think both are amazing training programs. I like all the features at Wealthy Affiliate’s Site Rubix platform so much that I can’t see not ever using their services.
Plus they’re always updating their system. Just this last year, for free, I got SSL certification (going from http to https) for all my sites as well as introduced the Google AMP plugin to make my site super fast on mobile devices.
These are two things that I wouldn’t have been aware of that WA automatically updates me on. I go to a webinar, watch for an hour and implement the strategies. SSL on Go Daddy is like an extra $50/mo or something.
So that’s a ton of value in my opinion and these two features have both improved my rankings and amount of traffic. Plus I use their commenting platform to improve rankings/white hat seo.
So with WA, there’s a ton of infra structure that adds value to your online business, not to mention their extremely in depth training systems.
But… WA is a monthly fee. Granted it’s not much at $1/day (yearly membership), it’s worth every penny.
With Niche Tycoon, they have an awesome program and when our team reviewed it, we were super impressed. It’s also a great price with just a one time fee versus a monthly fee.
I think WA is better for new marketers and as a whole offers the most value. But Niche Tycoon is also a great product to give you a different take and is worth checking out for a pretty low one time price.
That’s the crazy thing in the online world, there’s always something new to learn and ways to improve your internet marketing skills.
Just avoid the bad programs!
Thanks,
Todd
Hi Todd,
I was considering this product a while ago and like you I thought it looked like outstanding value, although I didn’t have the time to go into it as thoroughly as you have in your Niche Tycoon Review.
I love the fact that it’s a reasonable one time payment and no upsells makes such a pleasant change.
As you say the course is probably aimed more at experienced marketers. Beginners may struggle with it as I don’t think there is any support provided. You can’t have everything for a one time payment!
Thanks for the review always nice to hear about legitimate products.
Peter
Hey Peter,
Thanks for your feedback on Niche Tycoon, it’s a solid product and it’s refreshing to see more training systems out there that offer real value.
Much appreciated,
Todd
Hi Tim,
Thanks for doing such a wonderful review of Niche Tycoon. I have heard about Fat Stack in my travels, but I wasn’t sure where to get quality information.
This review is very informative and it’s obvious that you actually purchased the product and used it before reviewing it (a rare event). This review gave me a lot of quality information. My question to you is, what is your favorite technique that you learned by doing this course? Thanks
Hey, thanks for leaving a comment and I’m glad you like the review! Niche Tycoon is based on the standard online-business-building technique; find keywords, build a site, write keyword targeted content, include affiliate links, etc. I know that technique works so its nice to find a product that teaches this. They do offer refunds so you can feel safe trying out their product to see if its for you. Thanks!
Hey Tim, I just can’t get enough of review sites like these. There are so many shady sites out there and thanks to sites like this one we can waste less time and get at the right ones a little more easily.
It’s nice to know there are sites out there that are really legit who are trying to help people make something of themselves without taking advantage of them. Thanks for sharing. And I love your good reviews and bad reviews menu section too.
Thanks for the review on Niche Tycoon, good stuff.
Hey Andy,
Thanks for your feedback on our Niche Tycoon review as well as the site feedback. We’ve just tried to lay out a simple site to help people create successful online businesses without the bs and high prices.
As a matter of fact, you should check out our Free Internet Marketing Training eCourse.
Here I lay out the mindset as well as the right tools and resources one needs to make online success a reality.
Thanks,
Todd
Hi! I never heard of Niche Tycoon before. But this gives me the possibility to know more about this program.
I like the 80 lesson! And all of them are towards traffic? I think that’s a good idea. Most of the new courses focus more on building your website. And makes sense. But, what to do with a website without traffic?
Absolutely Javier, traffic is the blood force of the website and essentially a major part of any online business.
You still need to be able to convert to sales or opt-in’s, but there’s a lot of value in Niche Tycoon.
If you need help with organic “free” traffic by writing content that ranks page one in Google, check out our Free Targeted Traffic eBook.
It’s the same guide I’ve been using for the past couple of years and I rank super fast. This site currently works only off of organic traffic and is getting between 700 to 1,200 new visitors per day.
So I’m confident it will work for you too.
Really great review on Niche Tycoon. It seems like a really solid program and one worth following to see how they develop.
I have to say, I’ve reviewed your site’s information, the reviews, good and bad, and they are all very helpful, especially for those considering this kind of online business.
I’m a member of what I believe is your best program, Wealthy Affiliate.
How do you think Wealthy Affiliate stacks up to Niche Tycoon?
Thanks
Hi Abdusalam,
Thanks for your kind feedback on our Niche Tycoon review, we appreciate the comments.
I think Niche Tycoon is a pretty awesome course with a ton of value for the price.
After going through 9 months of structured training at Wealthy Affiliate and being an ongoing student for over 3 years, I haven’t seen anything yet that has the same value of WA.
The reason being is they just have most every internet marketing/online business training technique covered. No black hat seo, just white hat for long term success.
The community at WA is huge (800,000 and growing) and so I can get help on any topic faster than I can by googling it.
That, cloud hosting for up to 25 sites, and the commenting platform from Site Rubix make Wealthy Affiliate a no-brainer and an integral part in my online business.
I spoke to the owner of WA last week to help me optimize a post getting over 1,500 visits/mo to improve sales conversions.
Pretty cool don’t ya think.
You could certainly go with Niche Tycoon and spend the time to hit all the training’s, but I’d still be a member of WA for the website builder platform, the community, and the ongoing and updated training.

Best,
Todd
Hi Todd, thanks for the detailed review of Niche Tycoon. It’s really helpful! I’ve just started researching and learning about online marketing and am really happy to come across your insightful website; will definitely check out Niche Tycoon (and the other programs on your website)! What do you think is the best thing about Niche Tycoon, as compared to other online training programs?
Thanks for your feedback on our Niche Tycoon review.
Honestly, I love the fact that it’s a one time payment for the low price. I can’t figure out why it’s so cheap.
I still don’t believe it has as extensive training, the community support and as incredible site builder platform as Wealthy Affiliate has, but you could certainly do worse out there.
Hey Todd,
I find your review to be beneficial, it is rich with vital information one needs to know before starting an authoritative site.
One of the things that catches my attention, is that the over 80 lessons are geared to build traffic. Marketers are after traffic?
Again the key to the lessons is that they are updated regularly allowing current information. This must be a good idea regardless of the $$$$ price what you mentioned the value is there.
Niche Tycoon is no Scam. This is something I wanted to hear about and I will take your word for it.
Yeah, Niche Tycoon is a solid program and ranks high up with only a handful of quality online training programs.
Thanks for your feedback.
