In this Terapeak Review we’ll take a look at the service and I’ll show you how you can use it to find hot products to make fast sales on eBay & Amazon.
It’s easy to sell items that you own online, but what if you want to build a e-Commerce business selling the same products multiple times?
Well, if that’s your goal, the biggest challenge is to find hot products that people want and then find sources for those products.
Not to worry, I have a little something that will make all that much easier for you.
There’s an online tool that I discovered when selling on Amazon to give me an edge when selecting products to import, and then sell on eBay and Amazon.
The program basically compiles seller information from eBay and Amazon.
It will tell you exactly if a product is worth selling or if there’s no room in the marketplace.
It makes your job of finding hot products a walk in the park.
Terapeak Review: The Basics
Terapeak is a subscription based service that allows you to view seller’s data from the world’s largest online marketplaces; eBay and Amazon.
There’s a free membership trial available, so feel free to take a look and check out the insider’s area.
The free trial alone provides you with enough time to find decent products that you can make a nice profit from.
You can also connect it to your seller’s account to see sales data in real-time and see which products are performing the best.
Don’t Want to Read Complicated Seller Data?
Here’s My Top Recommended Program to Sell on Amazon >>
Over the years, Terapeak has undergone quite a few changes, and now it’s a full-fledged package for anyone who wants to sell items online.
Here are some of the tools offered within the member’s area:
- Seller’s Account Management and Data
- Product Research for eBay and Amazon
- Where to Find Sources for Your Products
- Competitor Research
- Search Engine Optimization Service for Quality Keywords
You can access most of these tools on a trial basis, once the trial expires you will be required to sign-up for a paid membership if you wish to continue using the services.
The core service is product research.
How to Research Products on Terapeak
It’s simple, but you’ll first have to type in the product name in the search bar.
To find products, either visit eBay or Amazon and simply copy and paste the name of the product into the Terapeak search bar.
For example, I headed over to Amazon’s best seller list and copy and pasted the second most popular product, a 10 pack of play-doh.
When researching this one product in particular, a few interesting things can be noted.
For instance, take a look at the screenshot below, there have only been two listings over a 90 day time period on eBay for that product and only one was sold.
But the average price is $25.19!
That’s interesting because the listing on Amazon is being sold for $7.99!
And yes, it’s the EXACT same product.
So, it’s not a very popular product on eBay but maybe if you lower the price a bit, it has potential.
Let’s see if we can find a source.
Heading over to Alibaba, all we have to do is copy and paste the product name and hit search.
And here I find the same product but there’s no price information, we have to contact the supplier for pricing details.
In some cases it might be worth contacting the supplier if there’s no pricing info on the page but I prefer to stick to products that openly share pricing details.
So, this product is worth investigating further, but it’s not the best product out there.
As you can see, all you have to do is repeat the process until you find a product that meets the criteria.
And then you can look into the ordering process!
The Criteria:
Here’s the criteria for finding a good product with Terapeak.
- A sell through rate of 30% or higher.
- Good margins.
- LIGHT Weight Products.
- Must be currently selling on eBay or Amazon for at least three times the source price.
As you can see, this tool makes finding products a walk in the park.
But it does require time because you have to sift through each product to find the good ones.
It’s also important to keep in mind that you should avoid products that have a brand.
Many people make this mistake, they’ll look for any product and try to sell it online, but that’s a good way to get sued for selling counterfeits.
And even if you don’t get sued, you can still get your merchandise confiscated by customs or lose your seller rights on eBay or Amazon and that’s money down the drain.
What you want to do is.. Look only for products that have no-brand.
Better yet, create your own brand.
That’s when the real magic happens.
Additional Thoughts on Terapeak:
If your serious about selling products online, Terapeak can be a great advantage.
There’s a short learning curve that will allow to select products that can sell fast versus wasting time on losers.
If you’re gearing to make eCommerce a full time gig, then Terapeak is a must have tool.
I suggest that you take some time to familiarize yourself with Terapeak using their free membership.
See how it works and learn how to read the data.
It’s also important to avoid getting too excited about one particular product. Make notes on the products and record the hard data, the pros and cons of each product.
Sometimes you find products with perfect data and a cheap source but it turns out to be an anomaly and the marketplace doesn’t want the item anymore.
It happens, nothing is set in stone, but the data can make it much easier for you to avoid wasting cash on junk products.
All products have a life cycle and you want to time it on it’s way UP!
Additionally, remember not too order too much stock right off the bat.
You’ll want to get samples first and see if those sell, and if they do, then slowly order larger batches. Many times sellers will have a minimum order quantity of 500 to 1,000 units per order.
Dealing with Suppliers:
Once you establish a relationship through ordering samples, many will allow you to order smaller quantities.
Don’t back down if they ask for a larger amount. Just explain that this is the maximum order you can make until you test the market. If they decline your business, go elsewhere. Don’t be forced to order too many units.
And please don’t rush ahead and order thousands of units!
There’s always a chance that you won’t be able to sell your stock and then that leaves you with a bunch of products you can’t sell.
And that’s a waste of cash and products!
So, take it one step at a time and make sure all the factors are aligned and keep your emotions in check.

I highly recommend this product to anyone who wants to sell items online and build an eCommerce business.

Hi Todd,
I have never heard of Terapeak but it seems to be a really useful tool. Never having sold on Amazon or eBay I imagine that choosing the right product is the biggest problem. It’s very hard to keep up with the latest trends so anything that can help with that must be very valuable.
I’m sure your criteria for finding a good product will be valuable for many who are getting started.
Like you I enjoy affiliate marketing, it costs so little to get started and there is no risk but with your knowledge do you ever think of returning to selling physical products?
Thanks for the great advice!
Peter
Hey Peter,
I do have thoughts of a few products and have a source that I need to explore that can create and ship here in the states, but lack time at this point.
I do love selling products, but like you, I’ve been enjoying the low stress of affiliate marketing that it’s hard not to continue to down this path. All in good time.
I think if you do sell online, Terapeak is a must have. Simply for the fact that you can see how hot a product is before you invest in a large order, pay for delivery, etc..
Thanks,
Todd
I guess this is what I am looking for Todd. But I am not sure if Terapeak is the right tool for beginners? I am thinking about eCommerce business, but I don’t have any experience. Is Terapeak the right start for me? Did you know any different tools for beginners?
Hey Greg,
I first used Amazon, Walmart, and Aliexpress to look for hot products and I stumbled upon a few. I also asked my niece and nephew for ideas for hot products for kids and came up with some ideas.
I was pretty new when I started and I figured out the drop shipping and importing using Amazon’s FBA program and Alibaba.com to find a decent supplier.
But the reality is that finding the right products is the key to success and I haven’t found a tool like Terapeak that made it easier for me.
I think you’ll have to spend a little time to figure out the platform, but you’re getting direct sales numbers from Amazon and eBay that show you trends and what’s hot. What more could you want?
It’s like an inside look at what Power Sellers are selling online. eCommerce business still contains a good amount of risk, but the profit is higher so it balances out if you pick some great products.
I prefer affiliate marketing because I know how to rank my content quickly and get my products in front of people and therefore have very little risk and consistent online sales.
Hope that helps,
Todd
Thank you for your article, Todd. Terapeak sounds like a great tool for those internet marketers who want to hold an inventory or stock. I also appreciate the free trial option to test drive it. Have you had any success with this tool if you were to find a drop shipper that would send directly to the interested buyer so as to avoid having a bunch of products to redistribute?
Hi David,
I started online drop shipping using Amazon’s FBA program. I’d import the products into Amazon and they’d deal with the order once a customer bought the product.
I did a lot of guess work and looking on eCommerce sites to find products and it wasn’t until I found Terapeak that I started making educated product selections.
The data is critical to see where a product is in terms of it’s life cycle. So this helps you pick a product that will have a better chance of selling.
Basically, I prefer affiliate marketing due to risk/reward. If you have a niche based site and know of some great products, you could certainly go with route. Then again, you could just get the affiliate link for the product and never have to worry about the other stuff.
Hope that helps,
Todd
Hey Todd,
Interesting service Terapeak offers. At first I thought it was a drop shipping business, but it seems like you’re kind of doing FBA?
Once you order stock of the product, is it better to sell them on Amazon or eBay?
I think Terapeak sounds like a great product for those interested in selling their own products; however I feel it can be bit time consuming to brand, market, and sell your own products. Especially if you’re just getting started and have very little funds.
That being said, I think that with a little capital, this business opportunity is possible; and the free trial helps!
I’ve been looking into branding my own products myself, so I’ve been saving up a few bucks a month to get started.
Thanks for sharing,
Diana
Hi Diana,
I was referring to FBA as a drop shopper. I think for most products, Amazon sellers have a better chance due to the massive amount of traffic that Amazon gets over eBay. But for auctions, an eBay seller can sometimes create a buying frenzy and make more money.
I enjoy selling on both platforms, but like you, I’m not too big on the risk these days. Affiliate marketing works really well for me and so I prefer the low risk and high rewards that affiliate marketing can create.
I’d also tell you that I have a friend I met in Colombia that started out with 2K and now has an amazing online business generating around 1/2 million per year, so if you’ve got a good idea and want to brand a produt, go for it.
As a matter of fact, you can get a complete manual on the in’s and out’s with power seller Skip McGrath’s training’s. (Click the link to read our review).
There’s a lot of programs out there that sell this type of training for 1,000’s of dollars, so I’d check out Skip first.
That’s how I started my first importing adventures.
Best of luck,
Todd
Terapeak.. Wow. I’ve created my own private label product on Amazon, but it took me some time to find the right product I wanted to sell. This can make my life ten times easier! Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I would definitely recommend any tool that will actually make finding a product to sell on Amazon easier. That’s the hardest part of the process
Absolutely Garis. When I found Terapeak during my days in eCommerce, I felt like it the most helpful tool for me when coming to rational product decisions. I’m not the most up to date guy on new products or trends. As a matter of fact, I sometimes would call my neice and nephew to see what kids in the states were getting into.
Terapeak allows you to explore your ideas on what would be a good product to sell without the guess work.
Thanks for your feedback on our review as well as your personal take.
Todd
