What is Career Step you ask.
Career step is an online education and training center that aims to provide stay at home parents with the marketable skills.
Before we dive into the details, there are a couple of things you should know about Career Step.
What is Career Step?
Career Step offers over 16 courses for various skills that you can use to find a job online.
What is interesting about Career Step is instead of focusing on how to build an online business, the focus is on how to find an online career.
In short, find employment online; a job you can do from your home.
Think if it like a college course but for a specific niche of people who want – or need to – work from home.
Of course this doesn’t apply for all of their courses, some still require in-office employment.
Here Are Some Career Step Courses:
- Medical Coding and Billing
- Medical Transcription
- Pharmacy Technican
- Healthcare IT
- Veterinary Assistant
- Medical Office Manager
In short, Career Step is an online educational platform that aims to provide you with the skills needed to secure a job.
It’s not about building a website or affiliate marketing or other ways to make money online.
Career Step Training Material:
The training material varies depending on the course but generally the quality of material is decent. Each course is assigned a total tuition fee, and the classes can be taken online.
For example, lets take a look at the Medical Transcription Course.
This particular course includes access to an online curriculum (videos & articles), an eBook library, tutor-support, an e-workbook, and much more.
The total class time is about 640 hours and you’ll receive a diploma upon completion.
Completing the course should drastically improve your chances of being hired as a medical transcriber. Most of the courses follow a similar system.
You’ll also want to know Career Steps courses are approved by the Approval Committee for Certificate Programs, so it’s officially recognized.
In short, I found the training material to be quite in-depth, much like a college course.
Career Step Pros:
One thing I noticed is even though the online curriculum is supposed to consist of 640 hours, it can be completed a lot sooner than that.
The cool thing about Career Step is it’s self-paced.
You can do as little or as much as you want; some people even completed the entire course in months.
So the more effort you put in, the sooner you’ll be done.
One more upside is their graduate’s placement rate is usually quite high.
The exact percentage varies, but most graduates report around a 90% acceptance rate for entry-level positions. What’s more is this isn’t one of those random online training courses that grants a diploma no company recognizes.
Career Step offers legitimate certificates that are government approved.
You’ll also notice you can request 1 on 1 tutor support if you’re struggling with the material.
There are also counselors assigned to each student so you can have one on one support anytime you need it. Support is always a phone call away and they promptly respond to issues.
Another pro worth mentioning is the company has been around for more than twenty years!
Additionally, Career Step also provides post-graduation support – they don’t leave you on your own.
To summarize, we think Career Step is a decent educational platform for people looking to improve their professional skills.
Career Step Cons:
On the other hand, there are some things we didn’t like about Career Step.
For starters, though graduates have a high acceptance rate in the job market, the jobs are entry-level positions.
Entry-level positions often pay minimum wage, and it will take awhile to move up in the ranks.
Though you could argue an entry-level position is better than no position. Most of the courses cost a few thousand dollars to complete too.
So you have to decide if the struggle is worth the outcome; many people say it is!
On other hand, entry-level positions don’t have to be your online source of work.
You can consider offering your skills on a freelance basis; charge your own rates, and find your own clients.

Summarizing Career Step:
Hopefully now you have a better idea of what is Career Step and you can make your own decision.
To me, the courses are extremely well done, similar to in-person classroom courses, but online and self-paced. If you put in the effort you can fly through the courses and maybe find a dream job in the medical field.
Just keep in mind the courses are a bit expensive, though there are some payment options to look into.
Nevertheless, Career Step is a legitimate – government approved – training center for professional skills.
If the idea of building an online business doesn’t really appeal to you, and you prefer regular employment, Career Step is worth a look.
Just keep in mind most of the courses are for the medical field, so if you don’t have experience in this niche it might be a little overwhelming at first.
You Could Also Try This…
Most people prefer regular employment as a source of income, but most employers will limit your income. In other words regardless of how hard you work you will usually be paid the same every month.
There’s a limit on how much you can earn.
With online businesses, there’s no limit.
And many online business owners make far more than they did at their previous jobs! Of course, I’m not promising anything – and I’ll warn you it takes awhile before you even make a single cent online.
But there is great potential to make a really nice income online, if you choose to put in the effort.
If that is a path you want to pursue, check out my favorite training program. It’s worked for 1,000’s of people just like you.
