What Is Grouply?
Grouply is a Chrome extension that has a wide range of functions.
However, it’s primarily used to farm data from Facebook pages and groups.
What sort of data does Grouply retrieve?
Well, it helps you find the names, workplace, position, and emails of members of Facebook groups (or whatever information is publicly available)
All of this information is compiled into a neat and organized Excel file.
It’s a scraping tool that conveniently helps you extract data.
How Can I Use a Scraping Tool?
Scraping the internet for email addresses or other contact information is a grey-hat method to build a list of prospects.
Generally, we don’t recommend this marketing technique because it’s more likely that you’ll be flagged as spam.

You can find a ton of people’s emails online, but if they never gave you explicit permission to email them, they’ll likely block you.
So the conversion rate is usually really low…
Nevertheless, some marketers see success with this method.
How is Data Generated From Tools Like Grouply Helpful?
Before we proceed, it is recommended to check the laws of your country regarding data mining.

How much does it cost?

Paying the yearly fee will give you unlimited extractions from unlimited groups.
How Do I Get Emails From Facebook Members?
It is important to note that Grouply doesn’t directly give you the business email addresses of the members it extracts.
You will have to do take several steps yourself.
Step 1: Find Facebook Group
Facebook groups are basically online communities. Members of a group all share at least one common interest.
This means that a marketer looking for prospects will just need to find the right group.
Fortunately, groups in Facebook are all separated into categories.
While these categories tend to be broad, there are tags that you can use to find something that fits your niche better.
Step 2: Join the Group
You will need to join the group you’re interested in, in order to extract data from it.
You might need to answer a few questions first before joining a closed group.
Step 3: Extract Information
The information Grouply extracts seems to only be public knowledge.
In other words, it can only find the information that is publicly available on a Facebook profile.
If someone has their company on public display, then Grouply will extract that data.
Here’s a recap on what type information is extracted from the members of a Facebook group:
- Profile URL
- Company Name
- Company Position
- First Name
- Last Name
I think the way it works is that if the member doesn’t display their information publicly, then Grouply won’t be able to extract that information.
Grouply is merely a tool to make your job easier.
Step 4: Get Their Emails Addresses.
Once you know an individual’s first name, last name, and company name then it will be easier for you to find their business email.
Grouply recommends that you use another scrapping tool called Anyleads.
This tool uses the information you’ve extracted from Grouply to get you those email addresses.
Most people won’t make their email address public on Facebook, but if you have their other details, it can be easy to find their contact information.
For example, if you find a link to their website, it probably has a contact form on it.
What We Didn’t Like about Grouply:
I thought Grouply is a little invasive, and the recent privacy controversy on Facebook doesn’t help much.
To me, I would prefer if no one can farm my Facebook data, especially since I mainly use it for friends and family.
For those of you who are worried about privacy issues, one step you can take is to hide all your personal information.
If you’re personal information on Facebook is set to private, scraping tools won’t be able to find it.
Definitely don’t include your email address!

Conclusion on Grouply:
Our conclusion is Grouply works as promised, it farms all the public data from Facebook profiles found in Facebook groups, and compiles it into neat excel sheets.
What you do with that information is up to you.
In my opinion, I don’t recommend this type of marketing as it’s a little invasive.
And it’s also illegal in some countries!
The better way is to get people to subscribe to your email list because they want to; because you offer something of value.
Otherwise, you’re just contributing to the already massive industry of spam online.
