MojiLife is a company in the fragrance industry based in Utah. Recently the company has been gaining a lot of traction, and a lot of people are wondering if the compensation plan is nothing but a pyramid scheme.

Today, in this Mojilife review, we'll examine the company, their products, and their compensation plan, to see if it is really is the opportunity of a lifetime, or yet another scam to add to the list.

We have reviewed a wide variety of multi-level marketing companies here, from adult toys to electricity based mlm's. I can honestly say this is the first multi-level marketing company we reviewed in the fragrance niche.

MojiLife creates and markets a wide range of home-fragrance products, such as:

1. Air fresheners
2. Essential oils
3. Laundry detergent
4. Candles
5. And more. 

No need to visit IKEA anymore, MojiLife has it all. 

But wait, isn't MojiLife a pyramid scheme?

When you visit MojiLife's website, you'll see five menus:

1. Shop
2. Host
3. Learn
4. Escape
5. Cause

The Host button will take you to a page that promises all kinds of rewards for hosting a MojiSocial which is the same marketing method most pyramid schemes use. Looks like one. 

These events are basically the same marketing method every multi-level marketing company recommends.

How it works:

You invite your friends and family over, show them some samples, and encourage them to either buy the products or sign up under you. Hosting parties is nothing new. 

On the other hand, there is an actual product, so we can't say MojiLife is a pyramid scheme. You do receive something from their end. 

To clarify, MojiLife is not a pyramid scheme.

But, after digging through the old Google archives, I discovered some interesting facts about this company, and why it's probably not the best opportunity to join.

There are several ways to make money with the MojiLife compensation plan, and we'll run through them real quick. 

Host a Party.

One way to make money with MojiLife is by hosting a party. The host of these parties can earn 20% on every sale made at the party, as long as the total sale amount is over $200. Most people use this method to make sales. 

Build a Team.

As usual, building a team is another way to make money with the compensation plan. In fact, it is the most lucrative. The idea is to build a team under you and earn more Team Volume to qualify for various rewards. Basically, the standard multi-level marketing team-building scheme that can be found in every MLM company.

Direct Sales.

Don't want to host parties or build a team? That is fine. You can make cash from direct-sale commissions. MojiLife pays a commission rate between 20 - 25% on all direct sales. Not too bad. 

LifeStyle Pool.

Not an actual pool. This is a leadership cash pool which is shared with members world-wide, similar to revenue-sharing but only a small percent of the revenue is shared (a whole 1%) . 

Besides those rewards, there are some other getaways and bonuses, such paid vacations, cruises, and flights.

(But those are exclusive to the highest earners) 

Down to the details. If you know how to make money with other multi-level marketing companies, than you know how to make money with MojiLife because it is the same concept.

But how much money can you make? Is it easy?

At the moment, MojiLife does not have a public income disclaimer, so we can't see the average earnings for members.

But...

If it is anything like other MLM companies (and it is!) we can assume the income is quite low. Combine that with the fact MojiLife's products are not high-ticket (expensive) and most of them are air fresheners, it is no surprise people aren't becoming millionaires promoting MojiLife. 

Getting started:

To make money with the rewards plan, you'll need to buy a kit. The same kits mentioned earlier. These kits usually include enough product to host your first party, which can bring in some commissions. The idea is to advertise the party, either with e-invites, through Facebook, or in person.

Once everyone arrives, launch into a presentation about MojiLife, their products, and how you're making a boatload of cash. This should encourage people to sign-up under you or at least place orders for some products, of which you will earn a commission.

Simple, right?

In the MojiLife compensation plan, there are either ranks or levels: 

(Every rank above Friend has the same commission rate)

1. Associate - 20% commission
2. Friend - 25% commission
3. Consultant
4. Advisor
5. Specialist
6. Life Champion
7. Expert
8. Premier 

Most of these ranks are the same as the ranks found in other multi-level marketing compensation plans. Let's take a  closer look.

Associate is the first rank. When you buy a kit, this is where you'll start. No requirements for this level.

The requirements:  

• Friend - 850 PRV (Personal Retail Volume)
• Consultant - 300 PRV, 1,000 PV (Group Wholesale Volume), and 1 Active Team Member. 
• Advisor - 450 PRV, 2,500 PV, and 2 Active Team Members. 
• Specialist - 450 PRV, 5,000 PV, and 3 Active Team Members. 
• And it continues. 

As you can see, the minimum sales requirements are quite high. If you don't reach the minimum, your account is disabled, and you can't make commissions from sales. Kind of harsh. I feel like it's an uphill battle, with no end-goal. 

Before you start promoting MojiLife you'll need to be familiar with their product catalog because you can't make money without sales.

Most of the MojiLife products are rather basic, like little air fresheners you hang from your car's rear view mirror and essential oils. On the other hand, there are some interesting mechanical products, such as the Airmoji diffuser. 

The Airmoji diffuser is an electronic device powered by a USB cable which emits fragrances into your room, creating a pleasant-smelling environment for everyone.

The way the device works is simple. There is a small fan at the bottom of the canister that sends airflow up and through the fragrance-pod, and out into the air. 

Airmoji features: 

• Rechargeable Battery
• Quiet
• Safe for Kids (no heat, like scented candles)
• Easy to assemble. 
• Swap Fragrance Pods (buy pods from MojiLife)
• Bluetooth

Personally, I think the Airmoji device is an interesting idea, and from my research, it looks like most people are satisfied with their product. The Bluetooth function also lets you control the device from your smartphone, via the Moji app, to create a schedule. Interesting! 

Then again, do we really need an app to control air fresheners? 

You'll find two versions of the Airmoji: White and Black. 

• White - $44.96
• Black - $47.95

You can buy the device directly, without having to buy any kits or sign-up on as a distributor, which is nice. Prices are reasonable, and similar to other products in the industry.

In my opinion, you can accomplish the same goal with practically any air freshener, no need for Bluetooth or fancy features. 

The M3 works much like the AirMoji but the design and features are slightly different. Instead of one cartridge for one scent-pod, the M3 has space for three scent pods so you can combine pods to create your own unique scent.

With the M3 you can control more features via the app, such as: fan speed and LED lights. Granted, it costs almost twice as much, with a $84.95 price-tag but it seems to work as promised. 

As a distributor, it will be your duty to pitch people these two products, as well as the opportunity to become a member of your down line. 

Lets talk about some of the positive aspects of Mojilife. In my opinion, MojiLife is one of the better multi-level marketing companies, for a couple of reasons. 

Granted, the starter kits are expensive, but not much when compared to other multi-level marketing companies. The products themselves are all under $100 which is nice, as the air fresheners are rechargeable, so you don't need to keep buying them.

On the other hand, what you do need to continue buying are the fragrance pods because no other pods work with these devices. 

At the moment, Moji Life hasn't been involved in any major lawsuits, unlike other multi-level marketing companies. That is a good sign. 

The fragrance pods are cheap and smell nice. If you are determined to keep your house smelling as nice as possible at all times, these fragrances are helpful.

The pods can last up to 60 hours, according to their product specifications. I can see these products being useful for spas or massage parlors as well. 

Some MojiLife distributors say the AirMoji and M3 sell themselves. That might be the case. I have to admit, they do look interesting and it is a little tempting to grab one to see what all the fuss is about.

I like how they link air fresheners to your smartphone, making it possible to configure the device's settings through the phone. Quite innovative. 

But it is not all good. There are some downsides too. 

Mojilife is new to the scene, the company officially launched in 2016 so there is not much information about it online. But it would be nice if an income disclosure was made public so we  could get an idea of how much members make promoting the products and opportunity. 

In my opinion, when a company does not have an income disclosure (especially one that promises income) it is a red-flag and a bit suspicious. 

The truth is most multi-level marketing companies are based on a predatory business model. There are always stories of MLM distributors hassling random people into buying their overly expensive health supplements. It can be bothersome. Annoying friends and family with your pitches is a good way to alienate yourself from everyone. 

Though the Mojilife products are cheap, the commission rate is low too, which means you won't make much, even if you do make some sales. At the moment, the commission rate starts at 20% (Moji Associate) and increases to a maximum of 25% which is not much compared to other mlm's. 

To remain active you need to meet the minimum requirements, which increases depending on your rank. For example, at the Moji Consultant rank you'll need to make 1,000 Group Volume sales just to remain active. That is quite a lot.

On top of that your personal retail volume needs to be 300 a month (and that increases too). Basically, the system forces you to make sales just to have the chance to make money, and that is never a good idea. I doubt there is room for much profit. 

Yes. The air fresheners devices are modern and cool, but do people really need more than one in their house? I wouldn't think so. Maybe a maximum of two for every household.

What happens when you run out of households? With the constant pressure to meet the minimum sales requirements you're going to have to find some solution quick. It is a lot of pressure. In my opinion, it is not a stable way to make income online. 

Though there are some things I like about MojiLife, the opportunity is not something I recommend, for reasons mentioned in the cons section.

To me, I see a lot of money being thrown down the drain, with kits purchases, minimum sales requirements, and other expenses. The products themselves are not too expensive, but you shouldn't have to keep buying stuff to remain active. 

What I see happening is all your earnings will go back into the company, and you won't actually make any profit. Maybe you'll make some sales, but that will only lock your position in for the month, it won't actually be profit. Then you have to hassle more of your friends to buy, and the cycle continues.

I'm also curious to see their income disclaimers. I don't think people are making much money here. But you're welcome to share some of your income screenshots if you have them! 

When it's all said and done, signing up as a distributor for a MLM company is not the same as being an entrepreneur, though the MLM company says otherwise.

It's basically the same as affiliate marketing - promoting someone else business. But at least with affiliate marketing there are no minimum sales requirements and you rarely have to buy a product to promote it. 

Oh, and you don't need to host parties and annoy all your friends, either. Oh, and you don't need to make sales in person as well. It can all be done through your website. 

It's easy to see which business model has more room for profit. Most multi-level marketing companies want you to believe you'll be the next Steve Jobs.

Granted, if you're at the top of the pyramid you'll make a lot of cash, but if you join late, it won't be so easy, and you'll likely spend a lot of money just trying to make sales.
