What Is Quicktate.com:
The website works both for those looking to work online as transcribers, and those that will pay for transcriber services.
If you have an audio recording of let’s say a meeting or a phone call, you can submit it to the website, and pay for freelancers to convert the audio into text format.
On the other hand, if you want to make some money online, then you can sign up as a transcriber and work on projects.
Sounds straight forward enough right?
Well, there’s of course more than what meets the eye.
What is Takes to Work with QuickTate?
Quicktate gives you the opportunity to make money online by doing transcribing work.
One cool thing about Quicktate is that you hardly need any qualifications or experience in this line of work to get accepted as a transcriber.
The only thing you have to do is pass a fairly easy test.
If you’re a native speaker, or have pretty good listening skills, then you shouldn’t have a problem getting through the initial test.
Besides needing to pass the initial test, you will also need…
- A reliable internet speed.
- Computer.
- And headset.
There are actually a few other transcription tools that you can buy on Amazon that can help you with transcribing content.
How Much Can You Earn with Quicktate?
We know it’s pretty easy to become a transcriber… but is the pay worth it?
At Quicktale, there are several different types of audio files that you’ll be working on as a transcriber. Some type of files pay more, while others pay less.
The reason behind this is that some audio content is more difficult to understand. And some contain technical jargon most people don’t understand.
For instance, a medical transcription will probably be filled with medical terms that even a native English speaker will have difficulty understanding it.
Here’s how much you will get payed for each type of transcription:
- Medical Transcriptions: $0.0050 per word (1 cent for every two words)
- Legal Transcriptions: $0.0025 per word ( 1 cent for every 4 words)
- General Transcriptions: $0.0025 per word (1 cent for every 4 words)
Personally, I don’t think these rates are attractive at all. I mean, you’re literally earning pennies!

Time Considerations with Quicktate:
Even if you are the Usain Bolt of writers, you’re still restricted to the speed of the audio file.
You also have to consider the fact that there might not always be work available, which can affect how much you make in a month.
On the positive side, Quicktate does give you a ladder that you can climb.
What I mean by that is if you constantly pump out quality, accurate content, then you might get a position in iDictate.
iDictate is a sister company to Quicktate, and apparently transcribers working for that website get double the pay.
But iDictate is for longer files too, most of the files are over five minutes.
How Quicktate Pays:
You won’t have to input your credit card info, as Quicktate will pay you through PayPal.
That should make signing up more attractive if you tend to be weary of scams. The transcribing website will also pay you weekly.
But when you first start writing for Quicktate, then there will be a couple week delay until you get your first pay.
Think of it as an approval period.
Is Quicktate a Scam?
Since the website will pay you for your work, it’s seems to be legit.
There have been many users claiming that they’ve gotten payed from Quicktate.
It’s also a legitimate company because it has real clients and real workers.
Now, there might be some negative reviews floating around, but most of these reviews are complaining about the pay.
Quicktate isn’t a scam, but is it worth my time?
Well, before we answer that question let’s go through a quick run down of the pros and cons.
Pros of Quicktate:
- PayPal and Regular Pay. This means you will get money easily.
- Legitimate website. There doesn’t seem to be anything dodgy about it.
- Easy to get hired. Remember, you don’t need experience or qualifications.
- Flexible Schedule. You can pretty much choose any time you want to work on your projects.
- Work from home.
- Opportunity for advancement.
Cons of QuickTate:
Low Pay.
This is probably the most commonly complained about disadvantage of Quicktate.
Not always enough work.
A few reviews claim that they always get the amount of work they want. This could be a problem if you use Quicktate as your main source of income.
You also have to provide three references.
You need to add their name, phone number, and email.
I thought that was strange. It’s basically like handing off your clients to another company, for no reason.
Wrapping It Up with Quicktate:
As you can see there are several pros and cons you will have to consider before making a decision.
It’s really up to you to decide whether using Quicktate as a source of income is worth the trouble in your current situation.
In our opinion, the rates are far too low to live off of.
You could make some pocket change, but that’s about it.
But when compared to professional transcriber rates, Quicktates rates are insulting low.
To conclude, we don’t think Quicktate is a scam, as they do pay members and there are projects available. On the other hand, it’s not the best source of income.
We recommend creating your own legitimate online business. Nothing crazy, a simple niche site works much better.
Hopefully now you have a better understanding of what is Quicktate.
