Valentus Review Summary:
Product Name: Valentus
Product Type: MLM Scheme
Price: $20 + 1 Start Pack to Join
Best For: Nobody.
Summary: Multi-level marketing company that promotes weight-loss products. Most of the health benefits are marketing claims only because not much research has been done on the ingredients. Very expensive.
What is Valentus About?
Valentus is a network marketing company in the weight-loss niche. The company was founded by Dave Jordan, an MLM veteran who has been known to bounce between network marketing companies before they go under.
The company sells over 10 products, mostly designed to help consumers lose weight. Their core product, Prevail Slim Roast, is a type of coffee that is supposed to suppress your appetite.
Most of their products are based on Pseudoscience, as there really isn’t much evidence to back the health claims.
They also offer an income opportunity to join as a distributor.
Who is Dave Jordan?
Dave Jordan was involved with Waiora in 2008, a multi-level marketing company that creates anti-aging products.
In 2011 David Jordan joined LiveSmart 360, an MLM company that closed its doors in 2015 due to financial troubles.
Dave started his own MLM company in the fall of 2014 and named it Valentus – the Latin word for "prevail".But the question still remains…
Do Valentus Products Work?
Valentus has a small range of products that promise weight loss, improved brain functions, and other health benefits.
Overall, they’re supposed to improve your health. According to Valentus, their products has been formulated with the purest natural ingredients from the most pristine locations on the planet.
Wait a Minute!
Promoting a MLM Company is NOT a good idea.
Valentus tagged their flagship products, Prevail Energy & Prevail Trim as the best health products ever. Such a bold claim from an MLM company that offers the same thing as the other failed MLM companies.
But do the products really work?
Let’s talk about one of their products in particular - Slim Roast Coffee:
Slim Roast Coffee:
Valentus claims SlimROAST Coffee was formulated with natural appetite suppressants, feel good ingredients, and detox components.
It promises exciting results and great taste.
Now let’s delve deeper and find out if the ingredients in this product is backed by scientific facts:
1. Garcinia Cambogia
Garcininia Cambogia is one of those super-foods that people claim is a life-changer, when the actual evidence is not there.
In some studies, people who use the extract lost a couple of pounds when compared to other methods, but it is unclear if the weight loss was directly cause by the extract. This specific ingredient has been overused and over abused by weight loss activists.
It gets worse:
First, Garcinia Cambogia’s effect on losing weight is not proven.
Second, the only studies done have been small scale studies done on rats. So, the promised effect of this ingredient doesn’t hold any water. None at all.
2. Ginseng Extract
The result of various testing on “rats” suggests that ginseng may have minor effect on alertness. Again, this was tested on rats and not us humans. Seriously?
3. L-Carnitine with Chromium
A lack of chromium could cause fluctuations on your blood-sugar levels which triggers sugar cravings. But chromium deficiency is rare because most of the time we get enough by eating a balanced diet because chromium can be found in meats, nuts, beans (green), egg yolk, and grains.
How to Make Money with Valentus:
To join the Valentus opportunity, members need to pay $20 to activate their account, in addition to buying a Start Package.
You can choose from:
- Basic 1 box for $59.95 (50BV)
- Starter 3 boxes for $129.95 (100BV)
- Advanced 6 boxes for $199.95 (150BV)
- Business Builder 16 boxes for $499.95 (400BV)
As you can see, the packages are quite expensive.
Valentus Compensation Plan:
- Retail Commissions – 25%
- Fast Start Bonus – Up to $1003.
- Legacy Coded Bonus – $1004.
- Dual Team Commissions – Up to $100,000 per week
- Dual Team Matching Bonus – Seven levels starting at 20%
- 1% Global Volume Shared Enrollment Pool
- Vehicle Bonus – $400 to $3000 monthly
Valentus' income opportunity works much like other multi-level marketing companies where the focus is on recruiting new people and building a team (or “Downline) instead of making sales.
Now in my opinion, that is a red flag! It seems like it is a typical recruitment scam, where you pay a fee to become a member, buy a package of products, do it again next month then recruit others to do the same.
One of the fastest ways to make money with the company is by taking advantage of their fast start bonuses. You can earn this bonus as soon as your account is active.
Valentus Fast Start Bonus:
Here’s how it works.
When someone orders something from your website, for their first order, you can earn a Fast Start Bonus. The amount varies depending on which package they order, but usually the commission rate is around 30%.
Oddly enough, the commission rate decreases as the price of the package increases. For example, if someone orders a Basic package ($59) you will earn $20. But if they order a Business Builder package ($499) you will only earn $100.
Let’s do some math. A 20$ commission on a $59 sale is about 33.9% - not a bad commission rate. But then a $100 commission on a $499 sale is only a 20% commission rate.
That’s not great.
It Get Worse (Valentus Cons):
Valentus has received an “F” rating with the Better Business Bureau besides that, there are a number of complaints posted on the BBB website.
There are certain side effects that consumers are experiencing when they take Valentus Coffee. Some of the side effects mentioned include: headache, jitters, nausea, and an upset stomach.
Most of the promises made with the products have no solid scientific backing and are questionable at best.
Valentus was sued in March 2016 by their supplier. Apparently, they only pay $6 per box of coffee and they sell it for $60. Most consumers will find this a very hefty price for a product that has questionable effects.
Also, the addresses have been considered as a red flag. The location of the business on their website is different from the address listed with the BBB. They also have a different return address listed.
Thanks to the Internet, I'm constantly getting at least 20 new leads per day without doing any cold calling, hard selling or recruiting.
I've already achieved financial independence after working 1 year in affiliate marketing by earning a 4-Figure Passive Income Online.
Is Valentus a Scam?
In most cases, multi-level marketing companies advertise unrealistic income claims while requiring members to spend hundreds - sometimes even thousands - of dollars on their products.
Very few people are able to make good money from multi-level marketing companies. In fact, the majority of people lose money in the long run.
Does this apply to Valentus?
YES. Valentus offers expensive products with claims backed by questionable research. The truth is Valentus is a legal company but it's not something we recommend. You have to spend a lot of money to get started and the company already has a suspicious history.
If you need a hand on spotting online scams, read out How to Spot a Scam post.
If you're looking at Valentus to lose weight, then I would suggest looking elsewhere. You are better off having a healthy diet and daily exercise.
If you’re looking to make money:
I would steer clear of Valentus and all multi-level marketing companies. Empty promises of fortune and financial freedom made by companies like these will only result in heartbreak and empty pockets.
Just a heads up:
Businesses do have expenses, but you should only spend money on things that will benefit your business. Paying to join a company, for the hopes of income, is never a good idea.
You should only invest in useful tools or products, things that can improve your business.

Yet another great review.
I was wondering if you ever got to my DGL question. I am very curious about your take on it. It sounds similar to what you are talking about. How many MLM sites do you think are out there that try to disguise themselves.
I love the transparency, and wondering your insights on the questions. Again thanks for the down to earth content.
Hi Tim –
My first experience of ‘marketing’ was Amway. I suspect many people started that way, too, – spinning circles! Our upline guy seemed to be doing very well but after ‘conning’ a few friends and us not using our products fast enough to order more and not being able to ‘con’ anyone else 🙂 it soon fell apart.
When marketing online became a thing it was like the wild west! (still is, a bit!). I steered well clear of MLM and looked at the 1001 other methods of making money online. I see you promote affiliate marketing a lot. I’ve looked at various ways of doing this but it seems a bit of a long haul so I’m still on the fence 😱
Getting back to MLM, having had my fingerers burnt, I tried to steer clear of it but it does crop up a lot in ‘making money’ sites. Sometimes it’s not clear it is a MLM scheme until you dig down into the details – or small print! I think there’s an air of ‘legitimacy’ if you’re selling a physical product but ‘magic bean’ don’t qualify 🙂 The best appetitie suppressor is simply to drink a pint of water before eating 🙂 You’d think people would now be wise to the fact that there isn’t a miracale wweight loss system. But obviously not!
What amazes me is that people still seem to fall for it although a Google will usually reveal them for what they are so well done you for the review! Keeping people away from these schemes/scams requires education and that’s one of the hardest things to give to people.
All the best,Ian

Glad I got this information before deciding to take valentus. Thank you for breaking down the pros and cons, really helpful. I find that in any medicine there will be side effects and some side effects are worse that what you are taking the supplement for. I do consult with my doctor before taking anything anyway it just adds to the information I have already gathered.
Thank you for your very thorough review on Valentus, I have to admit I have never heard of that particular company before. However, I am very familiar with the MLM structure/system and no matter how tempting MLMs make their system sound, it has never worked out for me. I wish just once it had, I am still looking around for that one money making opportunity and I am certain I would have eventually run into the Valentus so-called opportunity/MLM system. I can’t spend another dime on a system that is bogus! Now I am very much aware of Valentus and can avoid them like the flu.
Good looking out for us little people looking for a REAL piece of the pie!

Thank you for this review. It’s so sad that so many company’s, such as Valentus, prey on people’s vulnerabilities in order to make money. It’s hard to figure out who to trust these days with all of these types of scams out there. Thank you for spreading the word and helping to prevent people like myself from wasting time and money on this program!
Wonderful post, the review I have been looking for, because other pages have just been beating round the bush.
I have seen a real MLM network like Valentus, even though it is not scam… at least they owe us the correct figure and not fake income record which can be frustrating.
You join, you lose weight out of stress if it doesn’t result to hypertension….the site crashes likd the rest… you lose trust
Thanks for the heads up
Following your Valentus review, I think it is excellent for all the information you provide.
According to what you explain, the product is not proven to lose weight.
Actually I have suffered several scams on the internet, thanks to your advice I will avoid falling again.
As a member of Wealthy Affiliate, I can certify that the company is very serious especially if you are looking to earn extra money online.
Thanks and Regards!
Thanks a lot for this review of Valentus, Tim! Very informative and useful! I had never heard of Valentus before but I have heard of many MLM Schemes and they all look the same. I really don’t see why I should pay to sell a product! And if the product is as good as they say, they should be giving some free samples away and people would just come back for more.
On a side note, if you do more research on ginseng and its properties, you will find more information that it does indeed have effect on alertness… also, many substances have been used with certain effects for thousands of years in some countries like China, India and Russia. Western science is not the most developed in my humble opinion… but that’s for another discussion… 🙂
Thanks again for the review,
Another great review. I can always count on the meat and potatoes of what I am looking for. This is a perfect example of a pyramid scheme. It is so upsetting to see this model being used still, and worse yet suckering people in, good honest people in. I enjoy your transparency and down to earth tone.
Have you done a review on DGL (digital genius lab) with Sean and Melissa Malone? I would love to see a breakdown of them. I have been thinking about there offer but it sounds more and more like this!
Thanks again for the insight!
Hi there, I have never heard of Valentus before until now, and you can make money with them? too good to be true I think. Thanks for the summary on top I know what I get myself into right away lol. I can see that you have done a lot of research on the owner. That’s a red flag for me that he is jumping from one company to another right away and they are all MLM, I do not believe in MLM. Through my lifetime, many people wants me to join them and I always say no, like NPUSA, Buzzolute, or Amway. What I wonder is that how can this guy stays in business after the F on BBB? Plus the side effects on the products? omg thank you for warning me about Valentus. Great post!
