Valentus is a network marketing company in the weight-loss niche. The company was founded by Dave Jordan, an MLM veteran who has been known to bounce between network marketing companies before they go under.

The company sells over 10 products, mostly designed to help consumers lose weight. Their core product, Prevail Slim Roast, is a type of coffee that is supposed to suppress your appetite.

Most of their products are based on Pseudoscience, as there really isn’t much evidence to back the health claims. 

They also offer an income opportunity to join as a distributor.

Dave Jordan was involved with Waiora in 2008, a multi-level marketing company that creates anti-aging products.

In 2011 David Jordan joined LiveSmart 360, an MLM company that closed its doors in 2015 due to financial troubles.

Dave started his own MLM company in the fall of 2014 and named it Valentus – the Latin word for "prevail".

Valentus has a small range of products that promise weight loss, improved brain functions, and other health benefits.

Overall, they’re supposed to improve your health. According to Valentus, their products has been formulated with the purest natural ingredients from the most pristine locations on the planet.

Valentus tagged their flagship products, Prevail Energy & Prevail Trim as the best health products ever. Such a bold claim from an MLM company that offers the same thing as the other failed MLM companies.

But do the products really work?

Let’s talk about one of their products in particular - Slim Roast Coffee:

Valentus claims SlimROAST Coffee was formulated with natural appetite suppressants, feel good ingredients, and detox components.

It promises exciting results and great taste. 

Now let’s delve deeper and find out if the ingredients in this product is backed by scientific facts:

1. Garcinia Cambogia 

Garcininia Cambogia is one of those super-foods that people claim is a life-changer, when the actual evidence is not there.

 In some studies, people who use the extract lost a couple of pounds when compared to other methods, but it is unclear if the weight loss was directly cause by the extract. This specific ingredient has been overused and over abused by weight loss activists.

It gets worse:

First, Garcinia Cambogia’s effect on losing weight is not proven.

Second, the only studies done have been small scale studies done on rats. So, the promised effect of this ingredient doesn’t hold any water. None at all.

2. Ginseng Extract 

The result of various testing on “rats” suggests that ginseng may have minor effect on alertness. Again, this was tested on rats and not us humans. Seriously?

3. L-Carnitine with Chromium

A lack of chromium could cause fluctuations on your blood-sugar levels which triggers sugar cravings.

To join the Valentus opportunity, members need to pay $20 to activate their account, in addition to buying a Start Package.

You can choose from: 

1. Basic 1 box for $59.95 (50BV)
2. Starter 3 boxes for $129.95 (100BV)
3. Advanced 6 boxes for $199.95 (150BV)
4. Business Builder 16 boxes for $499.95 (400BV)

As you can see, the packages are quite expensive.

Valentus Compensation Plan:

1. Retail Commissions – 25%
2. Fast Start Bonus – Up to $1003.
3. Legacy Coded Bonus – $1004.
4. Dual Team Commissions – Up to $100,000 per week
5. Dual Team Matching Bonus – Seven levels starting at 20%
6. 1% Global Volume Shared Enrollment Pool
7. Vehicle Bonus – $400 to $3000 monthly

Valentus' income opportunity works much like other multi-level marketing companies where the focus is on recruiting new people and building a team (or “Downline) instead of making sales.

Now in my opinion, that is a red flag! It seems like it is a typical recruitment scam, where you pay a fee to become a member, buy a package of products, do it again next month then recruit others to do the same.

One of the fastest ways to make money with the company is by taking advantage of their fast start bonuses. You can earn this bonus as soon as your account is active.

Valentus Fast Start Bonus: 

Here’s how it works. 

When someone orders something from your website, for their first order, you can earn a Fast Start Bonus. The amount varies depending on which package they order, but usually the commission rate is around 30%.

Oddly enough, the commission rate decreases as the price of the package increases. For example, if someone orders a Basic package ($59) you will earn $20. But if they order a Business Builder package ($499) you will only earn $100.

Let’s do some math. A 20$ commission on a $59 sale is about 33.9% - not a bad commission rate. But then a $100 commission on a $499 sale is only a 20% commission rate. 

That’s not great.

Valentus has received an “F” rating with the Better Business Bureau besides that, there are a number of complaints posted on the BBB website.

There are certain side effects that consumers are experiencing when they take Valentus Coffee. Some of the side effects mentioned include: headache, jitters, nausea, and an upset stomach.

Most of the promises made with the products have no solid scientific backing and are questionable at best.

Valentus was sued in March 2016 by their supplier. Apparently, they only pay $6 per box of coffee and they sell it for $60. Most consumers will find this a very hefty price for a product that has questionable effects.

Also, the addresses have been considered as a red flag.The location of the business on their website is different from the address listed with the BBB. They also have a different return address listed.

In most cases, multi-level marketing companies advertise unrealistic income claims while requiring members to spend hundreds - sometimes even thousands - of dollars on their products.

Very few people are able to make good money from multi-level marketing companies. In fact, the majority of people lose money in the long run.

Does this apply to Valentus?

YES. Valentus offers expensive products with claims backed by questionable research. The truth is Valentus is a legal company but it's not something we recommend. You have to spend a lot of money to get started and the company already has a suspicious history.

If you're looking at Valentus to lose weight, then I would suggest looking elsewhere. You are better off having a healthy diet and daily exercise.

If you’re looking to make money:

I would steer clear of Valentus and all multi-level marketing companies. Empty promises of fortune and financial freedom made by companies like these will only result in heartbreak and empty pockets. 

Just a heads up:

Businesses do have expenses, but you should only spend money on things that will benefit your business. Paying to join a company, for the hopes of income, is never a good idea.

You should only invest in useful tools or products, things that can improve your business.
