Today we’ll take a look at Yoast’s SEO copywriting training course and see if it’s worth your time and cash.
I have been hearing good things about this course so I decide to give it a go!
What is SEO Copywriting Training?
Copywriting is the act of creating content that motivates people to take action.
It’s an extremely valuable skill and you can make a lot of cash as a copywriter.
The Yoast SEO Copywriting Training will teach you techniques on how to write persuasive articles but most of the training focus is on how to optimize them for search engine results.
There are six training modules that walk you through the process of creating high-converting content for your site.
Good Copywriting = More Sales:
Implementing copywriting techniques into your website’s content is extremely beneficial to your business.
You’ll generate a lot more sales and drastically boost your income.
If you write one well-written and highly optimized article for your site, it will be on your site forever, and it will continue to bring in cash long into the future.

Yoast is a company that has been in the website-optimization niche for quite a few years and their free plugins are used by top internet marketers across the world.
In other words, the company has a reputation of delivering top-quality products that don’t disappoint.
I’m glad to say that their training courses meet the high-standard they set with their SEO plugin.
The copy-writing training course consists of seven modules:
- Introduction
- Keyword Research
- Setting up an article
- Readability and Style
- Editing
- Publishing
- Updates
Remember, in this case, the course is dedicated to teaching copywriting related to search engine optimization.
In short, how to write articles that target specific keywords and bring in traffic that converts to sales or opt-in leads (also know as.. SEO Articles).
Which is essential in order to run a successful online business.
But…
If you’re looking for a course that teaches how to write sales letters or sales pages, this is not the right course for you.

What I Like about SEO Copywriting Training?
I liked quite a few things about this SEO copywriting training course!
For starters, the value is decent.
Aside from the seven modules mentioned earlier, the course also includes quizzes and work sheets to track your progress.
The quizzes will make it easy for you to remember the points in the course!
Yoast’s team combines the three methods of learning:
- Learn by Watching
- By Doing
- And Instruction
So not only will you have videos to watch but also work sheets to fill in and written instructions.
To put it simply, the modules are designed to meet everyone’s individual learning methods.
Content and Writing Style.
I really liked how there are four modules dedicated to article design.
Style is important because it makes articles easier to read.
If all someone sees is a wall of text, they’ll likely not read any of it.
It looks bad.
And if no one reads your articles, how will you make any cash?
If you take the time to format your article with headers, bold text, lists, and other formatting styles; the article will leave a much longer lasting impression.
People will stick around to read your content, this will improve various SEO metrics and you’ll end up with a better result… Improved Website Rankings!
Article style is a topic that’s not discussed in many online business training courses, but its very important.
Well designed articles tend to convert better as well.
There are also a lot of people who like to skim through articles, so including bold text to highlight specific points is an excellent way to drive the point home.
Copywriting Certificates.
Upon course completion you’ll receive a certificate and a digital badge for your website.
The badge can provide some more social proof for your hire me page and it will lead to more clients.
Since YOAST is a well known and reputable company in the online world, the badge can be quite helpful.
I also like how the training is really easy to follow and there are quizzes after each lesson to test your knowledge.
In short, the training material is very in-depth and contains a lot of valuable insights into copy-writing and search engine optimization.

Cons with Yoast SEO Copywritting Courses:
Nevertheless, there are some things I didn’t like about the product.
For starters, it’s a bit expensive.
The course costs $199 one-time fee.
And that’s only for the copywriting course!
If you want the whole SEO package you’ll have to pay almost over five times as much.
Having said that, there are no monthly or extra fees to worry about.
There is a lot of value packed into the course and its definitely worth a look…
But not if you’re tight on cash.
YOAST does have other courses for search engine optimization but they’re $199 each.
In short, the quality is decent but the price is a bit high, especially if you want the full education (search engine optimization, copy-writing, etc.)
There’s also a bit too much focus on readability.
The Yoast SEO Plugin will analyze your article and assign a readability score, ideally the higher the score, the better.
The idea is, if an article is easier to read, more people will read it, and more people will be interested in your offer.
It scans your content in real-time (if you have the YOAST SEO plugin installed, its free) and determines the readability based on sentence length, vocabulary, headers, etc.
I noticed YOAST prefers shorter sentences, but if you cut all your sentences short, it disrupts the flow of the article.
It’s like reading flash cards.
Personally, I don’t think readability is such an important factor, and you shouldn’t worry about it too much.
If you write your articles with a conversational tone and the right keywords, it should be more than enough to rank.
In fact, some of my highest ranking articles have a very low readability score!
There are some factors in the analysis tests that are useful, such as the reminder to include short paragraphs and use the Active Voice.
To put it simply, these scores are a nice recommendation, but not an absolute necessity.
If you don’t have a high readability score, it’s okay!
I’ve ranked numerous posts position #1 in Google that had fair (and even poor) readability scores.
The point is; quality content is still king.
Conclusion on Yoast’s SEO Copywriting Training:
The low down is the course does provide useful knowledge but its quite expensive.
If money is no issue, then go ahead and grab a copy!
But if you’re low on cash, there are better alternatives.
The upsides of this course is you’ll learn a lot and the digital badge is excellent for social proof.
But it won’t teach you everything that you need to know about online business.
There’s still a lot to learn, and a lot of topics that aren’t covered in this course.
The main focus of this course is on content creation; how to create content that converts and earns money long into the future.
I think the quality is excellent and you can learn a lot from this course, but if you want the full online business training package, I have a cheaper alternative.

I do this series of tasks with each post and I rank fast and in the top page of Google.
You won’t get much recognition from Google or other search engines until you have about 20 posts on your site.
That being said, I did the same thing with a new site a couple years ago. I published 4 pages and 1 targeted post and got it to rank page 2 of Google.
I got a lot of comments on it and that helps the rankings, but really my next project will be to buy content (20-40 posts) and this will improve the ranking for the first post. The cool thing is that I did everything right on this post and got it to rank without the site having much content.
What’s even better is the site pulls Amazon commissions and I’ve made a couple hundred dollars from it without touching it for over a year.

I’ve been thinking about using the Yoast plugin and have heard about their seo courses, but honestly, I don’t think this is the best source.
I’m taking my internet marketing training course at Wealthy Affiliate, I think their one of your top recommendations.
And they’ve got a much better training program that includes most of what Yoast offers, but with a ton of other tools and resources that provide more value in my mind.
I also like that my training program is updated all the time and has relevant webinars every week that cover similar, but more diverse, topics than Yoast’s seo copywriting training.
